Nice truck, gonna be thirsty of course. My concern would be if most of those miles had a hefty 5th wheel in tow..

He towed a 32 foot fifth wheel, my previous truck was only a K2500 3/4 ton 4x4, it had the 454 with 219.00Km on it, and had the fifth wheel tailgate so it had seen a bit of use and I towed a fifth whee with it and would still be going strong if someone had not crossed into my lane and took me out.

Glad you're buying the gas.

The 454 is certainly a work horse. My dad had one in a Suburban. That thing would haul a long trailer up a hill as easily as it would do it empty.
It had 2 gauges of interest - the speedometer and the fuel gauge. As the speedo went up, the fuel needle went down, almost in unison.

That's a good looking truck, and the price seems decent. I'd try to get it for a little less, but wouldn't cry if I had to pay the $8,500. I had a '99 single wheel much like that, and many times wished I wouldn't have sold it. It was simply a great truck. Seems like the catalyst got plugged around 100K miles, so you may want to see if that's been done.

$8500 seems like a lot of money for a 17 year old truck.

My BIL had a truck nearly identical to that. The only difference being that it was a cab and a half. Same color and same dual wheel setup. He used it for towing a 5'er and said it worked very well for that purpose.

It was nicknamed "Fat ass".

I don't think he's going to find a large market for that truck in todays world, so you'd be solving a big problem for him by buying that off him. What's that worth to him?

I think I'd apply my $8,500 toward something else.

Kelley blue book (kbb.com) calls it $6900 for good condition.
$7400 for very good.
$7780 for excellent.
I used my zip, not knowing yours and guessed at some of how it's outfitted.

Of course that's 'Merican money. wink

Thinkin' the same thing...especially for a gasser - a gasser that's been apparently used a fair amount for pullin'.. And IIRC, they had mucho trouble with axle seals in those years - and I was in a GM shop until Feb/'98..

First thing I'd do if the buyer is truly serious is have that transmission checked out for integrity, then obtain the service records on the engine..

start at 6500 then go to 6900 at the most
cause you are gonna need that last 100 dollar bill to fill up the tank..............................

he probably aint had a single serious person interested in it and he is wanting to get rid of it obviously and I bet for some time now he has been trying to sell it
