After 35 years! I started when I was 18.

And It's been 35 days now since I've had a Marlboro!!!

I used one of those E-cigg contraptions called VUSE to kick my 2 pack a day habit. Already feel a ton better, and it's amazing how much better I can smell things that I couldn't even smell anymore. Also amazing how much better food tastes already, too. Other great thing / benefit is that my clothes and body don't reek of smoke! And now I can't stand to smell a cigarette burning.

Anyhow, thought I would post this hoping that it might help someone else to quit.
If I can do it, anybody can!

Great news, ch.

Hope you stay with it...

went out with a gal couple of years after getting divorced from my first wife...I stopped things between she and I because she wouldn't quit smoking....

sadly learned they buried her last fall, due to lung cancer...

such a waste...

First 2 weeks were really tough and I craved it badly. My Doc claimed it is almost as addicting as heroin. Don't think it's probably as bad as drugs, but it was sure no fun.

I think I got it whipped now!

Always enjoy your posts, chl. You can do it, man. Quit cold turkey couple times in my 20's and picked them back up again.

Bought the patches 23 years ago before Thanksgiving weekend, after burying my last favorite uncle and aunt from that stuff.

Figured I didn't want to be added to the list. (Freeman, Jesse, Hubert, David, Tom, Ruth, Maxine).
All of them died from lung cancer resulting from their smoking. These were all great people and wonderful family.

Ate and drank like a Viking that weekend, put a patch on my arm after a shower Monday morning, and never picked 'em up since.

Just throw 'em on the ground, buddy.
You will be surprised how quickly you get your lung capacity back, especially if you start walking for exercise.

Good luck! The stuff they have now is way better than the patches I used. I only used those patches for 2 weeks and I was DONE!

Thanks for all the encouragement from fellow Fire Members! I never thought I could do it!!!
I'm thinking I ought to be able to buy at least a couple of really nice new guns a year, with all the money I will be saving not buying 2 packs of Marboros a day.

I did the e-cig thing as well.....I got a bunch of encouragement, and advice from another campfire member, Brother Bart, not only just encouraging me to give it try.....but when I was really wanting to have a regular cig...he called me a dumbass for wanting to go back after a month or so away from my marlboro's

I still puff on the e-cig from time to time....but I don't need to go out for a smoke every hour or so...

My Dad read the Surgeon General's report in the morning paper in 1965, went home that night and watched it on TV. Threw his smokes in the trash and never smoked from that point on, he lived to be 89. My mother did not quit, a bronchial spasm and massive heart attack ended her life at 50. Her sister had surgery for epiglotal cancer at age 50 and succumbed to bladder cancer at 81. Do whatever you have to do to kick the habit, you will be glad you did.

You can do it, man. I can't believe how expensive cigs have gotten. Like I said, throw 'em on the ground, buddy.

I swear, I'm about to shoot one of my tough ass buds in the [bleep] head and put him out of his misery, if he don't stop.
Truth is, I probably won't have to. His wife is ready to do him before me.

30 x $4.50/pack = $140/month.
30 x $9.00/2 packs = $270/month.

Save some of that for ammo. You can come down and shoot some of my cool schit, buddy. I'll even break out the really good stuff..

Best Wishes,
LD

I quit those nasty bastards in 1979 and don't miss them at all. I can't even imagine inhaling a lung full of smoke anymore.

Good for you and don't give up. You'll probably crave one a time or two.

Good for you. I quit in 1998 and it was the best thing I ever did.
