Anyone have personal experience with the Leupold Kenai line of spotting scopes? I have had good luck with Leupold products and they have a great guide discount program which makes it more appealing. I'm somewhat limited financially but don't want to waste money on a junker. Thoughts and opinions?
Thank you

I don't have a kenai, but I do have a Windriver 15x45. It is mediocre at best. Its o.k. on 15x to 20x. After that it isn't very bright or clear. My buddy that I hunt deer with has a leupold compact 15x and it is much better in both areas. Not sure if weight is an issue for you. I wouldn't buy the Wind River again. good luck.

Thanks
Yea I'm looking for something that goes to 60x or so. Weight isn't too much of an issue as it will be mostly carried in a saddlebag. The Kenai seems to have mixed reviews, with some seeming to urge possible buyers to push a little further into their pocket book and go to the next level of quality. I recently learned the Kenai is made overseas which is kind of a bummer.

I think the kenai has a very cool form factor. its really compact for an 80 mm unit. its also got an easy to use focus setup. however IMO the vortex viper hd beats it in glass and price.

Ok cool thanks I know Vortex and Nikon both have scopes in the same sort of price range and I have heard good things about the Vortex.

Although I am a loyal Leupold customers, I found the Kenai scope has a lot of improvement needed comparing to many other spotters on the market. The clarity degrades past 40x. The brightness is definitely its weakest link.

The Kenai scored very low in a test put together by field and stream
My Leupold Wind River 15x40 is mediocre and is only clear under 20x
The Kenai was also to long to fit in my pack with the fixed power lens by 1"
