I just took a Savage 111.25-06 in on a trade. I wasn't going to keep it but I tuned up the trigger (pre accutrigger ) and took it to the range with a box of Hornady Whitetail American ammo and at 50 yards it shot a 1/4" group! I'm thinking about keeping it around but I don't like the feel of the trigger. I once had a Savage 110 .243 and it had a trigger shoe and that gave the trigger a good feel to me. But I'm not able to find a trigger shoe for a Savage bolt gun now. Are they a thing of the past? I don't have a problem with the pull weight and I've adjusted the creep and overtravel out of it but I just don't like the sharp edges on the trigger.

Seems like a saw an article on these a few years ago where the author, a gunsmith (can't remember who wrote or where I read it), said that these are underappreciated and that they're largely a custom gunsmith part made one at a time in 'smith shops.
I know that my 'smith has done a couple because I asked him about putting a couple together for my sons' Mausers which both have original military trips trimmed to single-stage.
You might want to talk to your favorite gunsmith. Should be a relatively inexpensive fix to your problem.
Good luck,
efw

I used to use them on a number of my rifles , but just drifted away from them over the years . Just never hear much about them any longer.
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

There are a bunch on EBay, like this one. Many are for specific pistols, But here is one for a Savage 99: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-NOS...=Vintage_Hunting&hash=item419285cede, It shouldn't be too hard to make one fit your rifle.

I run them on just about every rifle in the stable. And a fair number of handguns. I like the steel Pacifics best, followed by Ace. Those aluminum abortions I leave for everybody else.....

These guys http://www.t-grips.com/ still make them but apparently not for the Savage 110/111.

I stand corrected. Apparently size #16 on this list works! http://www.t-grips.com/MiscellaneousSR.html

I used to use them, but my gunsmith convinced me that they were the wrong answer to fixing a trigger pull that you didn't like. I've got a few in the parts box if anyone is itching to try one...

I think most trigger shoes are still back in the 70's hanging out with the thumbhole monte carlo stocks and white line spacers. A good trigger doesn't need it IMO.

I've always felt they looked out of place on anthing but a target gun or heavy varminter and really detract from the looks of a nice sporter.
Probably won't hurt the looks of a Savage, though!😛
What fresh Hell is this?

I heard some old skool smiths keep them in the same box as poly-chokes.
