Just finished a 7rsaum chunk/ playtoy. Rem 700SA, M40 contour 1-8" Rock @26", A3, fed by Alpha mags in Atlas bottom metal. It's wearing a 4.5-14x40mm LR M1 for now. That may change, along with some lower rings. Loudener came with as part of the barreled action. Never had one before, but am guessing it'll get threaded off and tossed into a drawer

The original plan was to shoot 162 amax, but the new 180 scenar has my attention. Throat is such that 162 gets to the lands at mag length. I believe the ogive on the scenar is far enough forward top do the same. Anybody care to share experience with heavies in the 7rsaum? I have H1000, N165, H4831Sc, H4350, R22.

With alpha mags and 180's you are gonna be in h4831sc and RL22 territory. Won't be able to get enough h1000 in there to hit pressure before max case fill most likely. The 180 scenar has a bit more bearing surface than the 180 vlds or hybrids, so won't eat quite as much powder.

My 7 saum 24" barrel is pushing 180 Hybrids @ 2900 fps with Retumbo. I ran H4831, H1000, and Retumbo. All powders shot well; however, h4831 I would get weird pressure signs on some days. Its was a tad slower, and really snappy in recoil. H1000 second best, with great speed, slightly compressed, less recoil than h4831. Retumbo was very accurate, and is a compressed load. Speed is fast and recoil is more of a big push, and comfortable to shoot. 180's rock though.

I to was going to try the 180 scenars, but these 180 hybrids just shoot awesome in my saum. The 180 scenars would seat deep into the case and as mentioned above has a bit more bearing surface.

Here's more info to read about my 7saum.
