What should the LOP be for a factory model 54 in 30-06?
Was the Winchester red recoil pad an option, or standard, or a later gunsmith add for pre-64s Model 70s in .375 HH or .300 WinMag?
Would you expect/be surprised to see a pre-64 Model 70 without checkering in the above two calibers?
Thanks!

1. LOP on my 54 is 13 5/8" 2. Pad was standard on both calibers. 3. Yep, would be very surprised to see an uncheckered M70 stock unless it was a Special Order, Target, National Match or Bull Gun.

PJ,
Thank you for the reply. LGS has two in that have been passed off as original and unfired.
Even with my very limited knowledge, it was clear that they had been refinished, drilled, and possibly re-stocked.
Does the Red Book have the information on the stocks you've listed? I finally got off my arse and order one, but it's a week out.

Hi AH64 guy, I know O about the 54's, I knew when I picked up my first 70 and shot it I was hooked, same with the .22s in model 52....for that very reason I have stayed away from the model 54. Im in deep enough!!! I have some old pals in central FL that sold me a fantastic mod 52C target to buy his first mod 54, I could tell talking with him they (the 54) were addicting, so I have steered clear! very best WinPoor
