My first attempt at spathcocked turkey on the BGE. I well definatetly be doing it this way again. I think it was easier to guess the time and it was super moist. My picture taking sills suck but the bird was tasty.

It refers to the method of "butter flying" the bird that you see in the pic. It cooks a bit more evenly.

It was a 16lb bird. Took 2.5 hours at 350 dome temp. I used the plate setter, didn't dare do a direct cook on my first attempt.

You did it perfect, no need for direct when cooking that long,it is nicely brown
