i only went out over the third sand bar about 300 yrds. we had one run and it hit my brothers shimano beastmaster 12/30 which was the smallest reel we had out. it almost stripped all the line off before the hook pulled. john burned the chit out of his thumb trying to stop it. probably a 200# + shark, hammer more than likely as fast as it was running.

One of the things I miss most about Texas.

Surf fishing....

First thing that came to mind was "Shark Bait!!!"

I remember that being done with bloody chicken parts and a surf board off the end of the fishing pier at Jacksonville Beach,FL in the sixties. They would catch some pretty good sized sharks off that pier when I lived down there, it taught me not to let the ex-wife or my kids to swim or play in the water at Jax Beach.

You shouldn't take to heart what TAK said about you. chuckle.

How warm is the water now? Was it comfortable?

Nice!

300 yards and only 6-8 feet? Is that all the deep the troughs are between bars? How far out until you get some deep water under you?

3 miles will get in 40-45 ft 20 miles about 100-120 ft, you paddle out 500-600 yrds and get in about 15ft water.

Damn. That's a big flat hunting ground for the large toothy beasts!

What else do you catch? Reds? Specks?
