OP stxhunter Campfire 'Bwana Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 47,132 south texas-Corpus Christi	i only went out over the third sand bar about 300 yrds. we had one run and it hit my brothers shimano beastmaster 12/30 which was the smallest reel we had out. it almost stripped all the line off before the hook pulled. john burned the chit out of his thumb trying to stop it. probably a 200# + shark, hammer more than likely as fast as it was running. I remember that being done with bloody chicken parts and a surf board off the end of the fishing pier at Jacksonville Beach,FL in the sixties.
