Anyone ever looked through the 3/4" Redfields that were put on these? How did they look? I have a hankering for a set up like that

Not in years, but new scopes are so much better, I'd recommend a small, 1" rimfire model like the 4x Leupold. Even if you find the Redfield, you might have trouble finding 3/4" rings nice enough for the Browning. Either way, good luck and let us see the end result.

I've had several and they are very nice. Can't beat a Leupold for sure but I like the look of the smaller scope on the Browning SA.

Somebody is importing a copy of the 3/4 Redfield scope. I have read a couple of reviews, but have not seen one. It is called the Gru-Bee Wolf Pup and sells for $120. Supposedly it is better than the Redfield because of modern glass.

They did look nice and to scale for the little gun. Many of the new scopes, despite their good optics, have to many sharp angles and other design features that look out if place on old classic rifles. I went with a Leupold 4x rimfire on my little RSI .22 because it seemed to fit, even though a little more power would be useful at times.
Does anyone know how the newer SAs shoot? The older ones didn't have the reputation of being super accurate, but that was before everyone became obsessed with bugholes. Years ago, very few would have tried good quality or match ammo in a plinker.

I have had 4 Browning SA-22 with the Redfield 3/4 scope over the years and it is a great setup for Squirrel Hunting. I wish i had kept one of them for old times sake. Another great scope for the Browning is the Leupold 4 x compact and probley better than the older Redfield today
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

I've looked through some of them, and for what they are, they are OK. Same with the old Browning 3/4" tube 4x that I have. I keep it because of a personal connection with a previous owner, but there are lots better options out there, IMO, such as BMR's above. But the little scope really looks nice on the little Browning semi auto.

I recommend a Leupold RF 4x. I really like mine. ..looks like 5 headaches all in a row. I like it! For this post, the older Redfield and Browning scopes are out there..but hard to find and usually running $200 or so when you find one in exc shape. Their optics are typical for the period. Nice then, but far out-passed by todays scopes.. I still buy quite a few vintage scope and use them on older guns to match the period. dave
