I thought I would share my rare Sp 1 serial # 300 with the even rarer 1/14 twist barrel. To the best of my knowledge the only time it has been fired was when it was test fired at the factory but there is no way to know that for sure. Every stamp on the gun is correct. Not for Sale or trade. [img:center]http:// [/img] [img:center]http:// [/img] [img:center] [/img]

My first AR was a SP1 with factory electroless nickel plating. I traded it for a Colt Hbar, oh to be young and stupid!

1974 is when I finished my time in the army and I just had to have a AR of my own. At that time $300.00 was fortune to me. I think I bought a case of 1000 rounds for less than $100.00 to go with it.
On the SP1 ser# 300, it is actually the 200th one built because Colt started production with ser# 100. I think I going to actually take it out and shoot it. I'll never sell it and there's no sense in me going to my grave and never have shot it.

I bought one in 1984 that had been converted to full auto by Pearl Manufacturing in Texas. I shot the hell out of it and probably put 10,000 rounds through it before I sold it in 2004. A broken trigger pin was the only item I ever replaced on the rifle. I used it to kill javelina in west Texas one year. I paid $400.00 plus the tax stamp fee of $250.00 and sold it for $8,500.00.

Have seen so many SP1's available and come and go over the years, it doesn't pay to beat myself up about it any more.
Should have bought and kept every one. Was always bitching about the carry handle. Dumbass.

I never cared enough for the rifle to keep one but my buddy has a carbine, serial #054xx he bought new, I always enjoy shooting that one. The aluminum stock, no fence or FA, They've come a long way but the older ones are pretty cool.

The older ones were light weight! Mine is about 6.5 lbs, as I recall, without magazine and sling.
