I normally always use CCI primers. Std in non-mag and magnum in belted cases or WSMs.
In my 300ROY I did use Federal 215s as they cut groups by 1/3.

Back to the subject---

Had my new 270WBY out and 110TTSX with R22 and CCI250 shot but all other handloads and Factory loads with 150Partitions or 150 Hornady shot 1-1.25.

I know the obvious things are
1- Stick with 110TTSX
2- Try Fed 215s.

what primer do you guys *start* with in small case magnums (257-270-7mm WBY or 7 mag)??

Just wondering.

Dave

In my 300 WBY, 257 WBY, 7mm Rem Mag and 375 H&H, I only use Federal 215's. I have other brands of large rifle magnum primers laying around, but the F215's have never given me a reason to change.

I've also usually used the fed 215s.

What other handloads did you try?

215's is where I normally start although I've used a lot of 9 1/2 M's as well

For a long time I used Federal 215 but during the great shortage I switched over to Wolf Large Rifle Magnum and they work just fine with no lose in velocity or accuracy.

Hmmmm....sounds like I need to try the Fed 215's. I'm a long time user of CCI-250's and always get excellent accuracy in all of my magnum rifles.

Partagas-
I used 69&70grs of R22 with 150 Hornady and 74grs R25 with 150 partitions. Factory 130 spitzer (new stuff from WBY) and factory 150 Spire pt.
Next time I'm going to use Fed 215s and step up the powder charge and increase OAL to ~3.300, was at 3.250 and stick to 130 and 150 partitions.
