Has anyone used this bullet in the Wby? Going on a spring bear hunt and was thinking of trying it.

Some people find the sst very explosive. Others think its fine. 140s used to leave huge holes in deer in our camp even when downloaded a bit in normal 270 wins. For bear I'd be using a 150 interlock way before the sst.

Or the Interbond...though I've not had the best luck getting them to shoot well.

IMO SST's are way too explosive for .270 Wtby. velocities. Id' go with Interlocks or Interbonds.

150IL in the Roy is the real deal. A very good combination.

I honestly don't understand the SSTs. They are very sleek bullets that one would assume were intended for flat-shooting cartridges. However, the ones that I have tried in .25, .27 and .28 caliber rounds ruin way too much meat. I shot a mature pronghorn buck at a little over 300 yards with a 117-grain SST from my .257 AI and had to basically discard the entire near shoulder. The far shoulder was fine, mostly because the bullet and its fragments didn't make it that far. We tried the 139-grain SSTs in my wife's .280 and they were worse in that regard than the 140-grain Ballistic Tips that she had been using.

Well, guess I will leave them for target use and maybe go with the Accubond or Partition.

I use the 150 SST in a 270 Win; MV around 2950. They do expand quickly but they are quickest killers of pigs of all sizes that I have ever used in any calibre.
Have only shot one deer with that bullet. I ate some of the sausages from it last night.
Accurate too.
