Anyone have any experience with the old Wincheste/Noslerr failsafe bullets at high speed, like 150gr in 300 RUM. Accuracy issues, hold together/penetrate well? Or just experience with them in general?

Oh, and believe it or not, deer bite. Fairly hard.

The 7mm 160 gr. fail safes I fired threw my .280 were no where near ultra speed you prolly going to get, but expansion from different test mediums were very consistent at 2775 ave. muzzle velocity.

Unfortunately, no game ended up harmed while testing, which was on the medium list. Friends that used the same bullets in other calibers recovered no bullets from there dead game.

Accuracy was O.K., 1-1/4 groups. The partitions of the same weight would go 1" and better if I did my part.

Spendy bullet for my taste at the time, and did not continue use of them.

The parts that do the work are all copper. No reason it shouldn't act just like a barnes.

Velocity would be an advantage with them. I killed pronhorn at around 450 yards using 180's in the .30/06 and expansion ws certainly adequate and also killed a lot of wild horses (brumbies) with my .275 Rigby using 160's but although they opened fine, I tecovered 3 bullets from full length shots.

The Barnes by comparison, penetrated fully with similar full length shots using 140 grainers at a little more velocity.
