I would appreciate a price check on a 99E in .308 serial #116xxxx, approx. 1951 model with checkered forearm and butt stock. Thank you for any help with this.

A post one million serial number would place the date of manufacture sometime after 1959. If it is the 60s/70s models without the cartridge counter and with pressed checkering it should be worth $400ish in good shape I would think. One of the true 99 experts should chime in soon though.

Thank you all for the information. Here is the listing for the savage: Selling my Dad's Savage model 99E 308 lever action with Weaver K4 60-B scope. Not sure of the age, but I know my dad had it in the late 50's, model number 1160572. Stock in fair/good condition, some scrapes and scratches, but nothing deep or cracked. Bluing is very good, only a few scratches on barrel tip and lever, but no rust. Scope has some scratchs and rust on edges. Fires very well, known for accuracy. Last of the internal rotatary magazines, holds 5 rounds. Weaver scope is marked Weaver, El Paso Tx.

Its not mine, but he is asking 350.00, I think it is a fair price but I know very little about 99's.

Serial number makes it a late 1967 or early 1968 rifle. Look on the front of the lever for an oval stamp with 1 or 2 numbers followed by a letter. The letter U would be 1967, the letter V would be 1968.

Its not mine, but he is asking 350.00, I think it is a fair price but I know very little about 99's. Assuming good condition, the scope and mounts are worth 50.00 so rifle cost is 300.00. As fair as it gets around my location.
