Have an opportunity to buy one that I have not seen pics of.
Described as 75-80% with some scratches, dings but no rust or pitting.
30" plain barrel.
Worth $400 for a hunting gun?

Yes, most likely a full choke, most 30" barrels are.

Yes, and I wouldn't hesitate to cut the barrel back if you have an inclination to do a poor man's choke opening. I don't think it's a bargain for $400 due to the relatively poor condition, but worth the money.
