Some random thoughts I had on the return trip while trying to readjust to the 9 hour time difference and jet lag
Africa was more than I could imagine
Atlanta to Jburg is a beast
Get bulkhead seats or at the very least isle and upgrade if possible
If not 3 glasses of wine and Ambien
Get your vaccinations
VIP service meet and greet with gun service just makes the experience EASY
My PH, tracker, skinner-driver were the BEST
Africa is changing rapidly
Thorns have stickers on them..................................
Camp mates can make the difference between amazing and awful. (mine were amazing)
Do not over pack
Wear hunting clothes and boots then take 2 complete changes
You don't need a knife except to clean your nails.
Take good binos with shoulder harness
No need for rangefinder PH will have it
Same for shooting sticks
Good shoes without hard soles
you cannot stalk as quietly as the PH and trackers
Sunglasses
Leave the candy behind, the camp staff left me candy on my bed
Forget cigarettes they can buy them cheaper than you
Be kind to everyone
Camp staff makes amazing food------different but amazing
Use a rifle that you can shoot well and premium bullets
300 WM with 180 grain Norma ammo e tips produced 1 shot DRT kills
Take more money and pictures
Leave trophies unless they are very important to you
Hyena is difficult to hunt
Listen to your PH they know what they are doing
Experience everything you can sleep at home or on the plane
Plan on extra time at airports international flights take time
Again VIP meet and greet is awesome
Jburg to Atlanta was easier for me probably because I was exhausted
Pictures and details to follow when I get my life back in order

How can I tell you bye if you wont leave?

Sounds like a great trip. Your excellent advice for Africa sounds very similar to good advice for hunting just about anywhere, with the exception of the PH and tracker references. 👍

I've got so many things to do in this great country that Africa might be gone before I get a chance. I've got several goals for myself before I hit 50 and being a do it yourself kind means the learning curve is steeper. I may have to add Africa to one of my first 50 and older goals.

I look forward to your stories and pictures.
