I posted this on another section of the message board, but thought it might be more appropriate here.

Just wondering if anyone knows if a 1911 (.45ACP) can be throated enough to accept wide, flat-point, hard-cast, lead bullets consistently?

Exactly what bullet are you wanting to shoot?

I dont have any problems with either 185 or 200 SWC lead bullets through my Kimber.

The LBT style, with the widest metplate.

Try the Jacketed Truncated Cone (JTC). Originally made by Hornady. Gives you the best of both worlds, SWC configuration with hardball reliability.

Yes, these will feed fine in well tuned 1911. Any critical feeding issues that might pop up will not be regarding the throating, it is the timing of the release point of the feed lips that are optimized for hp. The best throat is the well established standard for feeding match wadcutters, you can't throat a 1911 more than that.
