Hi all,
I'm new here, but I've had a lot of experience tearing into guns and fixing them. I have a question about a new 1100 I just acquired. As I was cleaning the trigger assembly I released the hammer without having enough pressure against it. Needless to say, it shocked me as it flew forward and it hit the carrier release, snapping off the top portion of it. What is the best way to replace this? Can it be done without completely disassembling the trigger assembly? Also I noticed that when the hammer is loose (i.e. not in the cocked position) there is a little side to side play in it. Is this normal? I know there is a hammer washer that is supposed to sit next to it and I wonder if this hasn't worn out. By the way, the gun is a 1972 Remington 1100 20 gauge, and probably hasn't been cleaned but a couple times in it's entire life.
Thanks in advance,
Rick
