I did not want to steal the other thread but have a question related to action length of M70's.

Do I have these correct?

30/06 Classic, 7mm RM Classic, .338 WM Classic, .375 H&H Classic, .243 Win(pre 64) - All long actions

270 WSM Classic, 7 WSM Classic - short actions

243 WSSM - even shorter action (?) I am mainly confused where the WSSM action fits in and what it would be called if I wanted an aftermarket stock for it.

All these are CRF.

there is also a short action classic for cartridges such as the .308 and .243.

Would the WSM actions fit in the short action stocks used for .308 and .243Win?

The WSM actions will fit in the 243/308 stock, but the barrels probably won't. If I am thinking correctly, most 243/308's have the Featherweight barrel contour, while the WSM's have a standard (read fatter) contour. But, you can always hog out the barrel channel to accomodate the WSM barrel.

If I'm not mistaken, the .308/.243 Classic SA is the same as the 270WSM/7mmWSM/300WSM Classic action. Bolt face and extraactor aside, the difference is in the magazine box, follower and possible the ejector. The .243/.308 class SA has a filler piece in the back of the magazine, whereas the WSMs do not.

As mentioned, barrel contours will differ as well.
