Buddy of mine has an old 870 wingmaster that when loading shells into the mag tube they dont catch on the shell stop and slip back under the lifter. That and the bolt will just pull right out with the barrel is off, you done need to press the shell latch at all, I assume that is the root of all problems but not sure how to fix it.

Any ideas what the fix is?

Thanks

The shell latch has broken or come un-staked. Relatively simple repair with the right staking tool. Push the two pins out and remove the trigger assembly. It will become apparent what needs to be done.

Thanks Malm!! The shell latch fell right out. Should that be flat or have a slight bend in it near the mag tibe end?

It should have a slight bend to provide the necessary tension.

Also check to ensure that tip has not broken off.. If it has, no sense in re-staking it.. Obtain a new one and boogie on..
