I am posting this just to share with you my pack that I put together. What it is is an ALICE frame with a MOLLE belt and MOLLE straps. The bag is a MOLLE butt pack. The butt pack can very quickly be removed and worn around my waist if I don't want to take the whole frame with me. You may also notice that I have the cargo shelf installed, which is also removable. My main purpose in mind with this pack was to have a pack that can do it all. It is light enough that I can take it with me on day hunts, and pack out meat on my first trip back to my vehicle. I can also haul firewood with this pack, or I can attach a 5 gallon bucket to it and haul just about anything. I have lined the frame with 550 cord with loops so I have attachment points to tie down gear. I am really looking forward to testing this pack out over the summer and especially during hunting season. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Looks interesting. How about some pics of you wearing it, with some kind of load?

i like it. i use the same frame with one of the old alice rucksacks. I just use it to pack in my heavy layers when it's really cold.
My idea of being organic is taking a dump in the woods.

I did very nearly the same thing with a Kifaru longhunter frame, home made load sling, a Kifaru backpouch, and top lid. I can throw up some photos if anyone wants to see it.

I will see what I can do. I will have to wait for this fall before I can get the kind of load I want on it though.

Looks like a lot of pack for a little investment.
I'm not a huge fan of the ALICE frame, but it surely will get the job done. Good luck next fall.

That LLBean pack looks interesting for $80.
OP, give your pack a try. That's the only way you will know if you like it.

Biathlonman's load sling Looks OK, but I would have added the cargo chair.

Here are some crappy pics. The bucket was filled with water and so was the canteen. The pack was also filled up with misc hunting gear. It weighed 30 pounds. One thing I really like about this setup is that there is a lot of air space between the pack frame and my back. The only places making contact are the straps and the belt. This will really help keep my back from sweating when I am hiking up hills.
