I recently bought a Sneaky Pete Holster in hopes that it will pass the criteria in the states that dictate that the firearm not show at all. I believe Texas is one. It looks like a Camera or I-Pod case and it fits my 9MM Taurus perfectly. I think, (But am not sure), that you could carry it in plain view because none of the weapon shows. Sneaky Pete would not respond properly to my question, because the Law's from State vary. Does any one have an opinion?

It makes sense to me that it would meet the criteria of not showing the handgun. It is very similar to the DeSantis Incognito holster that I just ordered. I wish I had known about these as the DeSantis uses Velcro closure, which is noisy. The Sneaky Pete uses magnets which will be quiet. I think I'll order the leather Sneaky Pete.

Guessing that it will cover you legally, but if I see a case like that I simply assume it's a weapon.

I think deflave's holster is nice. However it exhibits the shape of the gun. The Sneaky Pete Holster looks like a camera or Cell phone case. I think it look's less like a Weapon holster. I have no affiliation with Sneaky Pete, but I think it would meet the criterion a bit more. I like the magnetic catch better than yanking on a piece of Velcro.

TX now has open carry, if you have a CHL, but the handgun must be "secured" in a holster.
But I do know a few of my former students who use the Sneaky Pete to carry Ruger LCP 9 mm's. And yes it does meet TX requirements for Concealed Carry.

By the way, the only time I open carry in TX is when I'm out working at the Ranch. I don't open carry in public for many reasons, the main one being I don't won't anyone to know that I'm armed.

OK law is similar and my thoughts on open carry are the same.

I've spotted a couple of Sneaky Petes, I guess most people
don't identify them cause they aren't looking for a gun.

I think you missed the point of my post.

deflave, I didn't think I missed it. If I did , sorry. Didn't mean anything negative. Just thought that although fully enclosed, there is no doubt what's in it. With the Sneaky Pete, you can't tell if it's a Camera, cell phone, or a weapon. Walking around with it would draw less attention than a pistol shape. Basically, my original question has been answered.

My point is, let's assume the holster you're asking about is a huge success.

At what point does everybody start knowing/assuming that, that thing hanging off your belt is a gun?

Like the fanny pack in the 80's and 90's. It screams gun.

Maybe not the year it is introduced, but eventually people catch on.

Good holster, cover garment if you need it. Downsize appropriately.

The point being, I assume, this is not the place to find the answer.

The OP is asking about legal interpretation, if the item he purchased meets the legal requirements.

I was trying for a Socratic Method teachable moment, but obviously that did not work out.

The answer is within one branch of his local/state government.

But "lawyers lawyers lawyers" was pretty funny!

I received my DeSantis Incognito holster for the LCP II that I recently purchased. I have not taken possession of the new pistol yet, as I am awaiting the County Clerk to modify my CCW permit and, until that is done, I can not pick it up from the dealer. However, I have been carrying my Samsung smart phone in this holster for a week to see if anyone seems to notice it. So far, no one has. My wife hasn't even mentioned that I am now carrying my cell phone in a case (even she doesn't know it's a gun holster). I have worn it to house parties, restaurants, the bank, several stores etc. and I have not noticed it even getting a notice and it has not gotten a mention. It is not uncomfortable to wear sitting and is not too soft or rigid. It's padded just enough to protect it's contents and will not print the contents. The nylon case fits my casual retired-guy dress. I figured having friends and family getting used to seeing this being used as a cell phone case will help when it eventually becomes a gun holster, as it was intended. I think this will fit my needs very well.

For an anti-2A hack in a state run by fascist socialists, maybe that makes sense.

I just got back from a commercial range that requires all firearms to be in a case (not a holster). I was wearing the DeSantis Incognito and, again, no one saw this as a holster. It really does hide in plain sight. The models for larger pistols like the Shield or G43, might attract more attention, but these holsters for the micro .380 are very small and most would not think it big enough to hold a pistol. When I finally get my LCP II, I'll report as to how easy or difficult it is to draw from this holster.

I was there to sight-in and try out the new Streamlight TLR-6 laser/flashlight combo sight that I put on my 1911 .45. I'm very happy with this light and it's perfect for night time home defense use.
