Sounded like this...
Bang - OUCH! Bang - Shee-it!!!!! Bang - OWWWWWW!
Love my model 71 deluxe, AI version of the 348 sounded fun and powerful but full power 250gr loads come back right smartly!
Then, to make matters worse The darned thing was not even on the paper at 100 yards or even 25, and I could not get the sights adjusted low enough to get there. Will have to buy a new taller front sight. Williams will be getting a call from me on Monday. Took quite a number of rounds to figure this all out, though.....

The regular version kicks right smart, and with all that taper taken out, I'm sure a full-on AI gets even snappier.
Screw in a .450 Alaskan tube and try that one!!
Hope you get her sorted out.

I am sure that a 450 Alaskan would be a real bruiser, at both ends! Those old stocks and such are not that good at directing or softening recoil.

Gonna have to get me one of those..... But after it is sighted in (I'll be using NORMAL loads this time until we get really close!!!!) it won't matter as I will only be shooting it at really big game like elk or bear while wearing a heavy wool Filson Mackinaw cruiser jacket.

A brick pad works wonders when placed against the shoulder , had my Browning 71 at the range today also but its the factory version.

I have a Caldwell Lead sled for load work up with 416's and up, but did not take it as I had no clue how much recoil the AI'ed full house loads were going to dish out. Might use it next time, though. Increase in recoil when going from 2200 to 2500 fps with the 250's was exponential, not linear. Pretty surprising. My 340 shooting 225's at 3100 is lots easier to shoot, but its stock and all are set up for such. Big 'ol Limbsaver pad on the 340 helps out there as well.

You young whippersnappers are just too soft. That .348 Winchester is a cream puff to shoot. I thrive on it, carbine, steel butt plate and all. The .348 Winchester AI ain't much worse, just fancier. Try my .35-348 Winchester AI, it's a fun little plinker with a better bullet selection and enough power to tame everything from empty Jack Daniels bottles to moose.

35/348AI is another round I find very interesting. Since I have a model 88 with a PacNor 358 Win barrel on it it might be a while before I play with that one, though.
