After viewing the other thread showing us how crappy Kimbers shoot
I thought I'd post what accurate groups should look like.

These are typical groups from both my A7's.
In fact, everyone's A7's shoot this way all the time, day in day out.

Top group....10 shots fired in 10 minutes,
.778 outside to outside

Bottom 3 shot group, Swift S2's, fired minutes before the 10 shot group.



Sako A7 25-06 I bought used here at the campfire.
There's good reason that Sako guarantees 5 shots moa.
Only manufacture in the industry that will do that.

Kimbers owners weep on, you can only wish.

How fast?

Bottom group was shot from fire formed cases, AI,
61 grains of 7828 SCC that I had formed earlier yesterday.
3,390, 3,405, 3,400 fps. 22" barrel.

Bottom group was a fire form load, 100 grain Sierra MK's 2,800 fps.

Show's the rifle's potential and I hope to get the groups smaller with load development.

I get these same kinds of groups from my 300 WSM shooting at 3,300 with 155's.

Roger that. Looks good, so far. I'm going to be looking for 3500 from my 22" 25-06ai and the 100 S2. We'll see if it works out.

I'm hoping to get 3,500 with another grain or so of powder. So far cases look real good. I'm using
Nosler/Norma brass.



This 25 is kinda growing on me. Man, recoil is nice!

First time I saw the A7 I luved it, still do. And I even like the funky stock. Barrel weight is model perfect, stock is light and it keeps the rig weight forward and from what I can tell the triggers are nice.

By my way of thinking a T3 +P

Yeah,...that's about what a group from my A7 looks like as well.

I shot a 15 shot group one morning with my .300 WSM on a lark, and it was sub-moa. I took my time doing it and was rotating it onto the bench every 5-10 minutes. Still though, all in all I was very impressed.

Though I don't care for the looks of the stock, it certainly gets it done.

I was surprised to find the factory stock only weighs 26 ozs. I was considering a McMillan Edge for it until I figured out I'd save an ounce or two at best. Pretty impressive for a cheap piece of plastic.

The only problem I have with them is that I can't find them as cheap as others seem to be able to...course that saves me money so that's not all that bad.

I have 2 A-7's a 22-250 and a 270 win. Like them both very well. The 270 was probably the easiest rifle other than a cooper to get to shoot well. They both shoot sub 1/2" 3 shot groups and will shoot less than an in. with as many shots as You want to shoot. The only thing I've done is adjust the triggers and use kickezz pads to raise the stocks. But my kimbers shoot very well also.

Since you framed this as Sako A7 vs Kimber, I thought it would be fair to expand the discussion beyond punching paper.

Your A7 sure shoots, as most Sakos do.

But the aesthetics . . . well, I don't have to say it. You can see.

A picture of the two rifles side by side would be nice to see.

You make a very good point, and no doubt the Kimber wins hands down in that catagory.
But I do like the ergos on the A7.

All n all I really like both rifles but love to get the Kimbers owners all fired up!
Makes for good conversation.

I did run into a problem and I just solved it tonight.

When I punched out my 25-06 barrel to AI I wasn't thinking about the center feed magazine.
It's made to fit an 06 sloping shoulder, that 40 degree shoulder pushes that well forward and there is NO way it can feed.
Well, I solved that, yep, it took a steak knife carving some plastic and a fingernail file to smooth things out, but it got it back to feeding like slick snot.

Glad you got the feeding worked out.

I bet that was an "Oh Sheite" moment for a little while there.

Did you chrony before and after on the AI modification?

It would be interesting to know, especially with the 22" barrel.

I can still work up a load using non imp brass.

No flyweight 4 sure but light enough for this old perro.

And it shoots, yeepers does it shoot. 155 Sea's and R17 or 125 TNT's and R15 will bug hole and that's with me shooting. Think if someone who know what they're doing shot it..<g>
