I use them with H332 in my specialized dynamics 6x45 AR. I am throwing them at 3075 fps out of a 18" barrel if that helps any.

When started from a .243 Winchester at 4000+, at 450-500 yards they will still give a prairie dog considerable "lift"....

Me and one of my calling buds have used them quite a bit on yotes out of our 6/06's. They scoot along pretty well and are the most fur friendly load that we have in our Big 6's.

Plus, we've used them on a couple of lopes/whitey's and they've done them in rather quickly.

Accurate as all get out of of our rigs as well.

DELGUE: I have used them in a couple of my 243's and for a time in my 6mm Remington - they have an amazing splat factor on Rock Chucks and Prairie Dogs.
And like others have mentioned they are VERY accurate.
I had a custom 6mm Remington Bench Rest Varminter made back in 1997 and had it specially throated for the 55 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips. With this Rifle I have shot many sub 1/2" groups and again this bullet works really well on Colony Varmints.
Which caliber are you thinking of loading these in?
I may have some load recommendations for you.

Before Nosler was recommending H 380 in the 243, I worked that load as the most accurate with high velocity...

I came up with 50 grains of H 380 giving 4000 fps, large rifle primer, no mag primer...

Nosler came up with 53 grains of H 380 instead, so I am 3 grains under their recommendation...

I don't use it often at that velocity tho, as I think the recoil is a little too much in a Rem ADL, the 243 that I used it in..

I can tell you tho, at an MV of less than 2800 fps, you'd be surprised on how deep that bullet will penetrate... going to be trying it out on some local coyotes as soon as deer season ends this coming weekend...

I was at the right place at the right time several years ago..
spend $50 at a shop closing them out... for 2000 bullets, and not factory seconds... grin

same price for 2000 of the 40 grain 22 caliber ballistic tips... smile

The bullet would be employed in a 244 Remington 722, 26" barrel, with a slow twist, prolly 1:12. The objective is to try to find as fur-friendly a load as a 6mm is capable of. I'm aware that the other option is to go the other way, and use a heavy bullet, but I had a box of these things laying around and thought mebbeso if they were pushed fast enough they might blow up inside bre'r coyote and not exit. Little hole in, no hole out, dead coyote. The theory is good...how the facts play out might be a different matter. smile

I shoot them out of my 6mm Rem's with the H380 load that they include in the box of bullets minus 1 grain from max . In my rifles they are very, very accurate but if you hit a coyote around the edges fur friendly is not in the picture. Have also used them in 243's and 6x45's on prarie dogs and they are definatly lifted

DELGUE: I see, a 244 Remington with the 55 grain Noslers on Coyotes - unfortunately I don't have much experience in that regard but I wonder if "toning down" the load/velocity somewhat would aid in pelt friendliness with that bullet?
I don't know though for sure.
Best of luck to you.

A load that worked good in my 700 BDL was 43 gr of H4895. 3700 fps out of a 22" bbl, even the massive loads of H380 couldn't best it. I don't believe more velocity could be obtained unless you had more barrel lenght.

I think the 58gr V-Max may be a better projectile for this project ... Ballistic Tips seem 'tougher' to me.
Cheers...

BT are tougher than the Vmax and the Sierra Blitz king, but at the bigger 6mm speeds they( Vmax/ BK) will do a big crater if you hit a shoulder joint or muscle/bone close to the hide

I have shot many, many coyotes with a 6 Rem with the 60g Sierra with a load of 50.0g of Win 760, Win Case, Fed 210 primer at 4000 fps, they penetrate and are fur friendly.

55's are super accurate in my 243's and 6 BR's but have never killed anything other than crows with them.

I was shooting them in my .243AI at 4250 fps and [bleep] comes unglued real fast. I literally cut a bobcat in half with a shot to the mid section. Not too fur friendly. I moved to 75g V-max and run a little cooler these days.

Hey Del, Tom from HM here. Last I talked to Kelly he was using them in his 243 and loving them. I'm gonna try some in my 243AI one day when I get tired of the AR's again. Give Kelly a shout as he's got more experience with them on coyotes than probably anyone else around.

I've used Varget & h414 to nudge that bullet just over 4000 fps.H414 was slightly more accurate. They can be fur friendly, but I've also turned coyotes ugly with shoulder hits.

That 60g Sierra bullet the Varminter one you refer to? Does the bullet exit, if so? I'm buying a new 243 Win. this week and plan on using it for predator hunting this winter. I'm also seeking a fur-friendly bullet and/or load.
