Today's story. The rifle - a 32 Special 94 Winchester
I was basking in the sun and the dog was probing every possible hiding place for game.
As I got up to come back to the house, I decided to walk around the west side of the trees. About a 1/2 mile away something didn't look right so I waited the "didn't look right" was not heading towards me but it was getting closer. The dog wasn't looking that far out, probably a good thing.
I think it was a large coyote or maybe a wolf.
He was going to get much closer so I aimed over the critter with my iron sighted rifle that was not the best, but it was in my hands.
Three shots later the coyote or ?? was heading due west and in a hurry. Next time I might bring along a scoped rifle that has a better chance.
That was better than many things I could have been doing.
