Here is the round ball from the 54 cal Lyman Great Plain Rifle after 50 yard shot. I found the ball embedded in the off side shoulder joint. Looks like it worked well on the White Tail Buck pushed by 80 gr of Triple Seven 3F. The Buck dropped in it tracks.

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a hunting license and that's pretty close.

Cant understand how folks question if a PRB will work on deer.
There is no way to coexist no matter how many bumper stickers there are on Subaru bumpers!

Because they have never used the patched round ball or shot a deer with one. They have used nothing but the inline, because they are so easy to use and almost fool proof if you keep them half way clean . I use the inline myself and like them, because they are almost like hunting a second season with a rifle. I will continue to use both, but love hunting with the Hawkins .

I took a doe in Pa. with a .50 cal. Thompson Hawkins flinter. 80 grains of FF. Shot was about 60 yards, and the deer was DRT. The ball went through a rib going in, through the heart, hit the ribs on the other side and deflected downwards through the cartilage between the ribs at the bottom of the rib cage. Clean shot and an instant kill. No problem with roundballs here.
