I have had my NULA rifle for about a week now,it's a 30-06 Model 24 with a 24 inch stainless barrel in number 2 contour with a Leupold 2.5-8x36 VX3 in Talley mounts.

It arrived with a test target showing four 150 grain Ballistic Tips from Federal factory ammo making a ragged hole of about one third of an inch at 100 yards.

So I shot the same load myself and managed to put four rounds into less than a half inch at 100 yards.

I also shot a group that ran less than 2inches,at 350 yards.

The gun feels like a wand compared to the other rifles that I shot the same day.

My second NULA has already been ordered,it will be a short action model 24 in 270 WSM.

Mel Forbes is a class act to work with,I reccomend his rifles too.

Thanks,

RD

There are a lot of similar stories from guys with NULAs. Kind of makes it clear how extraordinarily great Melvin and his rifles really are.

I've got six of them, including a 30-06, but mine has a #3 barrel which I ordered to get some weight toward the muzzled for stability purposes. And not surprisingly, it shoots.

Congrats on your new rifle.

No pics yet but I'll try to get some soon,it has the leaf green pattern that Mel shows on his website, and the barreled action is Cerakoted.

The Camo looks like the leafy pattern that Kelly Cooper used in camo clothes.

Really? Does he offer Cerakoting now? I remember him not wanting to do it... Might have to send mine off..

I know that he will do barreled actions, but he will not do the bolt, except for my bolt handle,it's still in the white.

In my case, your preachin' to the choir!

I really enjoy my NULA's. Last winter I had my 300WSM on the auction block for a week or so. It was listed here and on Guns America. Well, after a week or so here and about 24 hours on GA, I pulled it from both sales. Thought it over and sold some blood, sperm & a kidney to make up for a cash shortage. Damn glad I kept it. In the past few weeks I've spent some more time shooting it with some 150 grain Hornady Interlocs. They shoot great and we've had a good time together!!

If I had to pick a gun to carry tomorrow, either the 7-08 or the 300WSM, I'd have a tough time. Enjoying both!!

Nobody asked but..........I thought I'd add a NULA ML pic for the one or two people that haven't ever seen this one. (140 2/8") <grin>

Britt,

Thanks for the report.

I have been a convert ever since trying my first NULA, a .300 Winchester that weighed just under 7 pounds with a scope, but it's nice to know when other people have good results.

I'll be very interested to hear how you like hunting with it. My own experience is that NULA's aren't a heck of a lot harder to shoot in the field than heavier rifles, thanks to the normal-contour barrel, which puts the balance point a little forward.
