Years ago I read articles by Lucian Cary that appeared in the annual Gun Digest books. I enjoyed his writing immensely. I have looked for years to find a book encompassing his articles in the various editions of Gun Digest and the Saturday Evening Post. Does anyone know if such a book as ever been compiled? I would dearly like to find one if such a book exists.

Check Amazon; enter Lucian Cary's name into the search block and look in Books.

I don't know if this helps, but search ABE for his books. Here's a starting point: http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?an=lucian+cary&sts=t

Scare up a copy of "The J.M.Pyne Stories and Other Selected Writings by Lucian Cary", edited by Guy Lautard. You will be glad you did. It contains all of the J.M.Pyne stories originally published in Saturday Evening Post and later in Gun Digests that were based on the great barrel maker Harry M. Pope. Fictionalized but accurate portrayal of the man Cary counted as a close friend in real life. Highly entertaining for a rifle loony! (I've just about read the printing off the pages of my copy.)

Cary was a true wordsmith whether he was writing fiction or non-fiction. Few gun writers today can match him, IMO. (Present company excluded of course! smile )
