I have loaded for 270 Gr Hornady in my 20" LH 375 Ruger. Best load so far is 74 gr of RL 15 with 270 gr Hornady. I have 5 # of RL 17 but never tried it with my 375 Ruger.
With 300 gr bullets H 4350 gave more velocity and accuracy.
Need specific data for the 270 Gr Barnes TSX?

I contacted Barnes about the same type of issue with my 458 Lott. The info they gave me was to start 2 grains higher than the starting load for the Barnes X bullet. Now, before you or anyone else go and use that, I recommend that you contact Barnes directly and use whatever advice they give for the 375 specifically, b/c I doubt that 2gr applies across the board.
Also,if you happen to come across a lefty ss/lam Hawkeye in 375 Ruger, please PM me. I am considering going with the blue/walnut African, but would really like to find a ss/lam. Thx!

They show up occasionally here in AK but in my opinion they should stay here!! Can,t think of a more ideal AK rifle for a LH shooter here in AK for bear.

They work great in B.C. too leave a couple for us In mine I have mostly worked with Big Game and the 235 gr Speer's and 260 gr Accubond with good accuracy and speeds around 2750 fps using 80 gr with each bullet. So far the 270 TSX hasn't given me good accuracy yet but could still try H 4350 for it. Anyone try the 250 gr TTSX yet? That one looks pretty interesting for a do everything load.
Gerry.

In my Alaskan I use 81.5 grains of Big Game as per the Barnes manual and am getting 2735 fps average at 12 feet from the muzzle with the 270TSX, Fed 215, Hornady cases all loaded to factory 270 grain overall length.
If I do my part, most rounds cut each other at 100 yards with this load. The factory 270 grain loads seem to shoot at or under 1 inch in this rifle.

Tried the 81.5 GR of RS BG with 270 Brns TSX .49" 3 shot @ 100 20" barrel. Recoil was a lot less than 3 loads tried of RL 15 72, 73 74 gr with 270 TSX bullet best accuracy with RL 15 around .7". Too cold to chrono -10 F But range was not crowded!

Glad to hear the 81.5 BG load is working out. I'm shooting a 20" Ruger Alaskan. I checked my reloading log and this load averaged 2735 fps for 5 shots 12' from the muzzle which I would think would be around 2745-2750ish corrected for muzzle velocity. My groups pretty much echo your results - my first three went into 1/2", and two more expanded that to 0.9" for five shots.
I did subsequently try 81.0 gr BG, and got an average of 2702 fps for 5 shots, although that day I forgot my tape so just approximated the distance at 4 paces.
This load and rifle resulted in a very nice inaugural run this fall in northern B.C. with a nice 6x6 bull elk, green scored an even 331 gross, 317 5/8 net. A nice mature, full bodied elk, all four quarters on meat hooks weighed 515 lbs at the processor's. One shot at a lazered 217 yards. Broke both shoulder blades, and found the bullet just under the hide on the off side. I cleaned the bullet up really well at home after and weighed it: 269.3 gr!!! I've been shooting Barnes X's for over 20 years, and this is the first one that has ever stayed inside an animal for me.

KK, I have a 20" .375 LH as well. Sounds like you already have a load that is working, but I settled on 73 grains or RL 15 with the barnes 270 as it was the most accurate. No chrono so I don't know a speed. I have shot several 3 shot groups at .5" and it was plenty to kill a couple of elk this year. Like Jaycee I recovered a barnes out of the bull this year (follow up second shot) that entered behind the last rib, ran through the off shoulder, up the neck hide and was resting against the skull. 269.6 grains. Once the barnes are shot up I will likely switch to a AB or PT as my bore fouls more than I want with the barnes, although I do like their performance on game. I would be curious if you or others see issues with copper fouling with barnes in the ruger bores. Good luck.

I haven't noticed that the TSX's foul worse than anything else in my Alaskan, or any of my other rifles that I shoot them in. The older non-grooved X's fouled more in my experience, but still not enough to make any difference in a hunting rifle.
