I thought I would share this. I have been talking to a guy about long range shooting for awhile and decided to send him some video of some things we had talked about. He basically felt any shooting beyond 300 yards was somewhat useless if you weren't shooting a magnum. So the video was just for him to see what I had been telling him.
This was my first try, and what a pain it was. I'm sure there is an easy way to shoot video and put it on youtube, but it took several hours of converting and downloading just to get this little bit.
I'll readily admit I'm not a great shot. This was at 400 yards, but there was quite a bit of mirage and wind, if thats a good excuse. It's far below what most do on here, but just thought I'd share anyway. I hope to get some video of shooting to 600yds soon if I can figure out a better process. I'm shooting in HD, then converting, then downloading and it's taking forever. I would love to hear any hints you might have for getting shots on video.
Nice shooting! 400yds is no joke when shooting clay pigeons... On rendering video if you have a Apple computer Final Cut Pro X will speed things up 1000%....
Did you shoot at the Kodiak PRC last summer? Sunday benchrest matches at Salonie? I swear that video wasn't in Kodiak with all the sun and mirage but I guess it happens a couple of times a year... Shoot me a PM if you want to shoot steel to a mile, we have some set up.
