I can measure mine this afternoon. I think the muzzle is .595 or .600.

Magnum or std caliber? I believe there was a heavier magnum contour.

I have a 300 Wthby I can measure. That particular barreled action will not fit in the vintage McMillan KS stock that I bought.

IIRC, Aren't the locations you need to get accurate measurements to dupe barrel profiles located 6 inches forward of the gas escape vent on the receiver and at the muzzle based on your desired barrel length?? FWIW, the muzzle diameter on my '06 KS is .595"

The muzzle on my .300 Win Mag KS is .640 so it looks like the magnums are heavier.

Thanks guys! I was not aware that the mag calibers were heavier. I guess what I am after is the standard calibers. I have been told that the KS is bascally a standard Rem sporter that contours down to around .600" True??

The standard (.473 boltface) barrels finish at .59 at 24 inches. I had Brux taper a standard Rem sporter to finish at .600 at 23 inches. Dropped right in a KS stock.

The Remmy CS claims their contours are slightly different than the production ones. I have a 700 APR from the CS and it is definitely different than a standard mag contour. Even looks trimmer. The muzzle dia. on mine (300 Win Mag) is .645 @ 26".

Remington contours are a bit unique. They taper down from the very short shank to a point about 13 out (somewhere around there) and then go straight out from there. So you could cut a Standard sporter contour at 24, 23, or even 20 and they would all measure .660 at the muzzle.

Standard sporter is .660, KS as noted is .59 or .595, I dont own a Magnum contour so couldnt say what that is. Mountain rifle contour runs right at .550 at the muzzle.

That KS is what I call my Foothills contour. Had Pac-Nor cut a Remington standard sporter contour but start at .600 at the muzzle and work backwards from there. It is a very nice balance between the ultra light MR contour and the standard sporter. It only takes a couple-three ounces off the barrel but the weight comes off the front mostly so it pushes the balance point further back and makes the rifle feel a lot faster handling.

The KS contour is definitely different. More of a straight taper from action to about midway then less taper to muzzle. Once you own or see several you can pick pick out a KS contour fast.
