What barrel would you suggest for a stainless mountain rifle contour?
Thanks

Pacnor will dupe the contour you want in stainless, they've done a few Kimber Montanas for me:

Mark you have any experience with Brux. I don't. My 25-06 has finally given up and I'm now in the middle of determining on what to go with. Back with the 25 or to a 6 or 6.5.

I tried to get ahold of them yesterday. Am ordering a tube for a Roberts project for 2013. 9 twist stls

I have read quite a bit about Pac-Nor making FAST barrels if there is such a thing. Anyone have anything on that aspect?
Thanks

I had Pac-Nor dupe a 700 MR contour for my .22-250 Ackley.
My velocities are in the ballpark of what I'd consider average for my barrel length.
PS - I'm happy with the tube -

Just got off the phone with BRUX, they said they do not duplicate the MR contour in SS?
On to Pac-Nor I guess

Pacnor will dupe the contour you want in stainless, Better than do the MR contour, step up one notch to their #1; it a virtual dupe of the barrel contour on the 700 KS. For a hunting rifle, nothing wrong with a Douglas SS if you get the XX air gauged,non-straightened version & they will do the MR contour. MM

I'm pretty sure that Lilja has the Mtn contour as an option for their stainless barrels.

Thanks Montana Man. I have a KS and like it but want to duplicate a mtn rifle that I just like.
Just got off the phone with Bartlein, they won't do one either.
Might give Douglas a call

Any worthwhile gunsmith can turn down a #1 to a MR contour. It's not the black magic some seem to think it is.
Or just go PacNor!
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

Made the decision to keep it local and ordered my 4th Lilja. 10 Twist 3 groove in .257. I have the 6MM's and 6.5's covered so will go with exactly what it was.
Thanks to all for the suggestions and help.

Rock will do a mtn contour. They will, but they're almost to the point of dropping single customer orders....

Can Pac Nor duplicate the Mt. Rifle in a barrel length of 24"? I was talking with a gun smith earlier and I think he said 22" is the max length for this contour if I understood the context correctly.
I ordered an edge for a standard Mt. Rifle contour but now I am considering a rebarrel and want 24". If my stock can not be changed, then I am stuck with the Mt. Rifle contour so I am investigating options options.

You can do anything you want to the channel of a synthetic stock--if the bbl is too large, sand out the channel...if the bbl is too small, fill in the gap with bedding compound. Every one of my Mtn rifles have a bead of bedding along the channle to fill in the gap. Casey
