Any of you guys play with making a 7-300 prc yet. Just necking down 300 prc brass to 7mm. Basically a longer 7mm prc. Dimensionally everything should work. Mag box, feed rails bolt face etc.

Could you just ream a 7mm prc chamber deeper to the length and shoulder of a 300 PRC. Neck down 300 brass to 7mm. Would increase case volume increasing velocity.
If you have how did it work? Or what is your thoughts? Ken

I would think a 28 nosler would be easier but your project sounds fun. Good luck

That’s pretty much the 35 Newton. I used 375 Ruger cases to make mine. The Newton has a longer neck but generally about the same deal.

I know guys who have rifles in 7mm-300 PRC, but they built them with new custom barrels, however I don’t see why you couldn’t rechamber an existing 7mm PRC barrel with a reamer.

That’s my thoughts as well. I already have a couple 7mm Rem mags. How are they performing. I guess I’m curious on the average gain in velocity

I had a 7-300Win. The 300Win and the 300PRC have pretty much the same case volume. I decided it wasn’t worth the effort or expense compared to a 7RM with a long throat. After using the 7-300Win and the long 7RM for about 15 years I decided I preferred a 270 or 280 or 284 for hunting. I did go through 3 or 4 of the 7mm barrels testing etc. More recoil and effort for no substantial gain.

Forgot. The velocity gain was maybe 100fps compared to the standard 7RM.

Projectile selection,is going to do wayyyyyy more than cartridge selection. Hint.

A 7mm RemMag in a 700,with .796 BC 180's at 2900fps+,frosts all nicely and with aplomb,less ANY bullschit. I like mine kissing at 3.585",whether 280,280AI or 7mm RemMag. Hint.

They built their rifles with a very specific purpose, to shoot high BC bullets out of a long barrel with a very fast twist. For them the marginal gain in FPS was worth the extra work and expense. And they like the fact they can neck down Lapua brass. Personally, I would not due it, especially in a rifle with a sporter barrel. Like others said, maybe 100 fps or so gain in standard length barrel. But if you happen to be a machinist and like the idea, go for it.

It’s a Christensen 24” carbon fiber barrel. For 100 fps I’ll just leave it as is. I have plenty of 300 prc brass in ADG and Lapua. That’s why I was thinking of reaming the chamber deeper. Then I compound another problem with dies. Glad I asked. You have to know both sides to make a good decision. Thanks Ken
