I put this one on hold today. It's a little rough metal wise and the wood has a small crack behind the tang and the forearm is missing a little wood. The bore looks really nice. I'll try to get some more pic's later in the the week. 1899 SRC 25-35.

Grab the rare ones when you find them, at least until you find a nicer one to trade up to.

Good job.

Obviously, a pawn shop find. Got a lot of nice ones at pawn shops.

Great job...

Yep, it and an 1895 are the only two guns that made it over from your house.

this is not your ordnary pawn shop. It's more of a gun shop/pawn The owner travels all over the state to gun shows and has for a long time. The 1899 .303 I bought first was in his personal safe in the back room. He had 4 savage 99 in it and sold me .the 303 he has had for 15years. He has 3 more 99's on the racks for sale. Funny thing about this SRC is I went in just to look at what 99's he has on the racks and he ask which one I wanted next and I told him I was trying to figure out what caliber I wanted. He said I've got a beater 25-35 SRC in the back somewhere. We liked to have not found it buried in the racks of guns. We carried it out front in better light and he shot me a price and I said put it on hold. It will not win any beauty contest. I hope to get it home Friday.

Bronze wool and Kroil and a LITTLE elbow grease and you'll have a presentable, shootable, NEAT little Savage. Bravo!

And if you handload, you can load much better bullets in the 99 than a W--------r or M----n; with modern bullets and powder it's a whole different cartridge! And a WHOLE lot purtier than my G2.....
