Hey Folks I was pointed here to see if I could get some information on a Savage 99 .300 I own.
Here is what I have found on the gun and through research thus far so maybe just looking for someone to help confirm what I've found.
Serial #: 709139
Boss Lever Codes Looks Like: 3E
Additional Information:
S stamped on top side of barrel, Chicopee Falls, Mass. Weaver Mounts, Tasco 3-9x40

So with that anyone know what model or year I am looking at? I am thinking maybe 1953 based off the E on the lever boss code. I am unsure of the exact model though it seems EG is pretty popular and that is possibly what this is?

Thank You for any information you might be able to provide.I have had this gun for many years as it was given to me by my preacher when I was 13. My dad used it a few times for hunting but beyond that it has mostly just sat in the gun cabinet until I recently brought it out to AZ with me. I am in the military and haven't really had the chance to hunt anymore and am looking into maybe using this gun to get back into it.

I will try to get some pictures up this afternoon.

If it has a rounded fore end stock its an R model. If its a schnable tip fore end, its an EG.

Either an EG or R. EG- gracefully sloped fore end with schnable tip. R nothing graceful about an R. At all.

Graceful is in the eye of the dancer. I love dancing with R's, Joe.

I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.
