Hi Guys:
I have a pound of 2400, 100 pieces of Speer Nickel Plated brass (once fired), some CCI 350 primers, and a box of Hornady 240 grain XTPs.
I am loading for a Marlin 1894 that a friend has (44 Mag).
Any tips appreciated.

I like 20 grains of 2400 for 240 grain bullets, with CCI300 primers (350 will work though).

I use 22 grains in handguns. I also have an 1894. I have yet to figure it out, 1 shot goes low the next goes high...... I have tried about 6 different loads and 2 factory loads. I have scoped it and tried different bench techniques. This gun 'patterns".

I forgot 22 grains of 2400 is from the old type, not the newer powder.

A good starter load is 18.5 grains. 20.0 is too high to start with. Make sure you trim all the cases to the exact length. And make sure you apply a good solid crimp. 2400 needs a good crimp for good burn, and definitely with the Marlin lever action. Tom.

I'd stick with standard primers with 2400.

Assuming your loads are consistent....and the gun is clean or leading / fouling (especially chamber) Try dowel sanding to relieve barrel contact points... also, consider having a gunsmith inspect for crown damaged.
