I grew up reading Bob Milek's adventures, and always had the desire to harvest big game with a scoped single shot pistol. Anyone here still hunt occassionaly with one? By the way, pictures are appreciated...smiles.

I found a wizard and asked him if he can remove a curse I had been living with for the last 20 years. The Wizard says, "What were the exact words that were used to put the curse on you." I say without hesitation, "I now pronounce you man and wife."

been packing Contenders in various calibers for 20 years or so...tried to get used to the feel of Encores, just not my thing. also use the contenders in carbine format quite a bit. what sorta game are you looking to hunt? do you handload?

lots of good caliber options on the Contender, and the Encore will handle about anything you care to shoot, and some stuff i DONT care to shoot. only caliber reccomendation i'd make is to use something you are comfortable in shooting..

I have taken a number of 'yotes with my Contender G2 set up in 7-30 Waters. I hope to start hunting big game with it next with some exotics or hogs in Tx.

I also have and 11" .45-70 setup. I have shot it lots, but never hunted it. I keep thinking it might be just right to dump something really big like an asian water buff, or a bison.

Its a straight 1x Sightron.
I prefer little to no magnification on my handgun scopes, and even the no magnification 1x works very well out to 200 yards for me.

That's what I am talking about. Thinking about using one for a cow elk, mule deer, 'yotes, etc. And yes, I handload.

Just got back into the Contender game after about a 25 year absence. Picked up a 10 inch .357 Max for short-range weapon whitetails, a 14 inch .44 mag for bears over bait (and a moose if I can ever draw), a 14 inch 7x30 Waters for mule deer, and a 6TCU carbine barrel for a Wyoming antelope hunt.

You might want to check out Gary Reeder Custom Guns Website, just for fun.
