I know that spring type airguns need to be released (shot) soon after loading and cocking to preserve the drive spring, but how long to leave a Daisy or Crosman multi-pump (2-10 pumps) over a period of time?

My Daisy 901 manual says not more than an hour to prevent problems with the seals, downloaded the manual for it's Crosman competitor, the Model 2100, and it does not mention anything. I usually pump my Daisy 2-4 pumps for indoor target and pest control anyways, anything over 5 pumps is not needed. Would it make a difference over time if there is more or less pump up pressure, has anyone left their airgun pumped up over a sizable period of time without harm to the seals?

Thanks.

According to Tim @ Mac1, it doesn't hurt the valve or orings. In fact, he told me to leave a few pumps in the gun when being stored. I leave 4 pumps in my Benjamin Steroid 392 that he builds, no problems with the gun in the past 6 years of owning it, and I have 3 of them.

I've got a 35 year old Crosman 760 that I've always stored with three pumps in it. It still holds air forever and I've never replaced the seals.
