Experience from anyone here using or used this lure? Is it as good as some say? If it is I'd say it's worth the money, $16/$17, but that's a lot of money for a topwater plug if it's not.

I noticed Academy Sports sells a knockoff copy called TWS that looks pretty good for $3.49. Anyone used that one?

I have limited experience with LC lures, none with the topwater, but what I DO know is that yes, they do catch fish. Often times when nothing else does. They are expensive but they are of much, much higher quality then most other lures on the wall. I'm going to stock up on a few more tomorrow at BPS with since they're having a 3x rewards point night. If I'm going to pay 15-20$ a pop might as well rack up the points.

Being in the south, and near one of the BEST largemouth bass fisheries in the country (Santee Cooper system), I fish topwater ALOT. The Sammy IS a good bait. Easier to work than say a Zara Spook, due to it's shape, but I wouldn't say it's that much better.

I can't say that I've seen a instance where the Sammy outperformed the Spook, or or similar walking baits. When they're on the sammy, my partener can still catch'em on a Spook, or other topwater baits out the back of the boat.
Now the LC pointers are a whole nutter story!!! My boat's never in the water whitout a Slender pointer tied on. That's a fish catching machine, and has put more than a few $$$ in my pockets...

Not all but certain more expensive lures such as the Lucky Craft Top waters and the Mega bass 110"s have proven themselves many times in mid level and pro tournaments.

I just looked up those "Pointers." Holt moley, they come in a bazillion different color combos. Just stocking the darn things would make them expensive. REALLY good looking lures, though.

Pointers and Sammy's are great lures. There are others that will work equally well though. What I like about the sammy is that it will cast a mile. They are suited to calmer lake conditions. The pointers are great for all sorts of game fish.
