What is your prefered powder with 140 grain bullets. R26 excluded
RL16, RL17, H or IMR 4350 Have worked well for me.

i like Reloader 26 is my favorite in a 6.5 Creedmoor
Got any recipes for the 143ELDX? I have all of the mentioned powders.
H4350, RL16, RL17, Ramshot Hunter.
46gr of H4831sc with your 143gr ELD-X.
H4350 is good but there are some awesome underrated powders out there like StaBall6.5, Hunter, and Reloder 16

That's almost a years supply..
H4350 is the only one I’ve tried, sub MOA groups with 143 gr & 129 gr pills.

H4350 is really all you need, if you can find it.
I've tried these:
Very happy with the majority, but superformance is finicky. Been seeing that with some of my 22-250 loads as well.

What issue are you seeing?
I shoot RL26, but would likely shoot anything from the 4350 burn rate on up. I’m trying to make some speed, as my barrel is 18”. RL26 gets me mid 2600s with the 143eldx without standing on it too hard.
Mine likes H4350 the best

Just bigger groups, as the temps go up. To be fair, some of those loads were developed in the fall/winter months and shot in the summer time. It happens more so with some powders. I find H4350 to be much more stable. When developing loads, you can see the nodes and it doesn't take much to fall out of that node when using superformance. I've also seen that in some 300WSM loads, using superformance powder. In the pic above, those 2 pounds I have left, may be the last 2 I mess with.

Thanks I have some sc as well as Staball and 4350 so I'll give those a try.

I tried almost all powders but RL26 in my 6.5 CM, but it likes 44.6 gr of Superformance with 143 ELD-X’s the best.
I’m still new at reloading in general and just recently picked up a Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creed. Mentioned it in Mule Deer’s short essay on the 6.5 Creedmoor. Working with what I had on hand I shot this group in the rain last Saturday. Load was 40.5gr of Big Game under a 143gr ELD-X in new mystery primed Hornady Brass from Mid South. I measured case length and then seated a bullet with a cheap set of Lee Pacesetter dies at a COL of 2.8”. Next will try mag primers in the once fired brass but I’m not complaining with the results so far.
Will be giving Ramshot Hunter a try
I’m on the Ramshot Hunter train and have been very happy.
What velocities are you guys seeing with 6.5 Staball and 140s?
shooting 127 LRX's I've had good results with 3, R16, RL 17 and big game.
I’ve got a few boxes of 127s on the shelf and a bunch of RL17 and Big Game. How are speeds?

In my 24" Tikka I got 2940'ish with 42.4 RL17 in Alpha cases and BR2's with the 127. It was very good shooting.

2600
2690
I tried running hotter (book max), but groups were not as good.
I’ve got a few boxes of 127s on the shelf and a bunch of RL17 and Big Game. How are speeds?
I wouldn't expect more than 2,800 fps with those powders. Probably good accuracy though. I don't fool around with going over book max. Check StaBall 6.5, if you want a little more speed. I've found pretty good accuracy with that powder as well.
What velocities are you guys seeing with 6.5 Staball and 140s?
Staball 6.5 is basically my substitute for H4350 when I'm hoarding H4350 for other projects.
From the 22" barrel the 143 ELD-X flies 2,613 fps using 41.7 grains of H4350. Using Staball 6.5 I fill just about 1/2 grain more to reach equal MVs and group sizes.
What is your prefered powder with 140 grain bullets. R26 excluded
H4350, IMR 4451, RL17, StaBall 6.5. First among them in H4350.
Tom
I’m on the Ramshot Hunter train and have been very happy.
I’ve been wanting to try Hunter in my Fieldcraft with 140 Accubonds. I’m interested in hearing about your loads?
My 18.5" fieldcraft likes viht n555 with 140 & 147 gr eld-m's.
My 6.5 CM has performed well with Hunter, Big Game, I4350, and H4350. But it really shines with StaBall 6.5 through it's 20" barrel. I'd like to play with RL26 but haven't been able to get my hands on any.
H4350 is the original powder used by Hornady. Fed 210m primer. If your rifle won’t shoot that with a 140 sell it.
Got any recipes for the 143ELDX? I have all of the mentioned powders.
what rifle did you shoot it out of ?
This is a 3 shot group at 500 yards that measured just slightly less than 1 1/2 inches. Load was 41.0 H4350, CCI 200 primer, 140 Barnes Match Burner bullet, in a Hornady case. The rifle and load can probably do better, but with my 73 year old eyes, don't know if I could.
I have 143's loaded with 44 gr. Staball 6.5 I'll be running past the chrony. Looking for low SD's and ES's.
Too many other loads using H4350 so looking to off-load one of 'em with something equivalent or better.

StaBall 6.5 is not going to be "better" per se, but it will be a good substitution. I use it when I don't want to dip into my stash of H4350. I was out with my Tikka superlite yesterday, checking a couple different loads. One being the one I use in one of my CTR's. It did alright in my superlite, even though it was tailored around another rifle:
I was going to check it at the 400 yard range, but there was a line of hunters checking their rifles. Deer season is on us over here.

Finally got around to trying StaBall 6.5 in the 6.5CM factory 22" barrel this morning.
The best load of the bunch was 44.0 grains with a 5-shot MV average of 2,721 fps and S-D of 4.6, and E-S of 12.
I'm going to tinker with 0.2 grains on either side of the 44 grain load and see what happens.
In any case, I think it's time I rustle up a keg of StaBall 6.5
I've used both H4350 and RL-16 successfully with 140s. I've got some StaBall 6.5 but haven't tried it yet.

I tried both sides of 44.0 grains and 44.0 ended up the most consistent. Oh, yea, and I went ahead and bought a keg.
Next up is the 143 grain BondStrike bullet using StaBALL 6.5. It would be nice if they group best with a charge of 44.0 grains, but I doubt I'll be that lucky.
I'll find out tomorrow.
Winchester 760 or H-414 will work
Winchester 760 or H-414 will work
Never tried 760 with anything but the 120 grains in the 6.5, but it really produced an accurate load.

Load data straight from Hornady before much was published. He told me if I wanted a bit more velocity, use 760.
I shot a course record matching score of 58 (at that time. 59 was shot by a friend subsequently) at Whittington’s Sporting Rifle Match with that 760 load
H4350 and 140gr & 143gr for multiple rifles, all sub moa shooters.. Sta-ball is temp sensitive, I have 11lbs left that I'll burn up in gas guns for plinking and never buy it again.
So what real world velocities are all you H4350 lovers getting? In 22" barrels
Book numbers for velocity with 4350 are considerably lower than those for StaBall 6.5 or RL-16.
I'm about to start load development for a new rifle & have all of those plus plenty of other choices.
Thanks.

I'm loading 143's in my hunting rifle with a 22" barrel.
H4350 gets me just over 2,600 fps.
With StaBALL 6.5 I'm getting 2,700+ fps.
Next up is N555 later this year.
Thank you. That's about the difference I'm seeing from most sources, maybe a little less than some.

In 22” barrels, I’m getting 2630-2650 at the muzzle with H4350 and the 147 ELD.
StaBALL 6.5 and Reloder-17 have been challenging in a similar fashion for me. Velocity gains over my traditional loadings has been a given with these powders, but obtaining accuracy has been a fight. However, in my 6.5 Creedmoor and .270, I have worked up loads with StaBALL that are accuracy-competitive to my traditional H4350 and H4831 loadings, while at the same time I have gained 75-100 ft/sec.in velocity

I am using 40.5 grains of H4350, CCI200, 147 ELD, Alpha brass. In my 22" Kimber Montana I am getting 2680 from those. RL17 and 26 are a bit faster, but I haven't messed with 16 or SB6.5 which should both be pretty good as well.

I've been getting about 2870 fps and good accuracy with 44.0 grains of RL-16 and the 127 g LRX in a Weatherby Vanguard with a 24 inch barrel.
I shoot the 120 gr. Ballistic Tip almost exclusively in my 6.5 Creedmoor over 39.5 gr. Of Varget for a velocity of 2900 fps. Very accurate in my Tikka T3x.
Previously I posted about using StaBall6.5 and Reloder 16 and others have as well.
Since that time, I have started shooting / trying Hybrid100v in my Bergara Premier mountain 22in. I haven't tried that powder with the 140 class bullets but with 130 Sierras, and 130 Nosler Accubonds I've been getting 2930s with both bullets combined with great hunting accuracy (.6 and smaller) at 100yds.
That's very interesting.
I've never used 100V, but I see that it's readily available.
I'm working with a new gun & the 130 Sierra is one of the 2 bullets I'm planning to work with, along with the Berger 135.
StaBall 6.5 & RL-16 are the 2 powders I want to wring out, but that is great velocity & great accuracy with that powder. I really don't want to stock another powder as I have plenty of the others, but depending on results, it's always nice to have another potentially good powder available.
H4350 may be great but it comes up short on velocity.
What kind of rifle, barrel length?

MM my rifle is a Bergara Premier Mountain 2.0 with a 22in barrel.
Reloder 16 and StaBall6.5 have been good for me as well, and H4350 is good as well. FWIW, Im getting 2834 fps with 42.4gr of H4350 and the 130gr Sierra HPBT Gameking. I haven't tried the H4350 with the 130 Sierra Gamechanger in this particular rifle. My son has a Mossberg Patriot that shoots the Gamechanger over 41.5gr of H4350 but I dont have a velocity on that one.
84Mtn................thanks for posting that.
H4350 is still on my list but, secondary to RL-16 & StaBall 6.5, at least until I see what they will do, but that's the 1st solid data I've seen with 130's & H4350.

Sheesh.
