I am doing a little research to see how it compares to LabRadar.
Garmin Xero C1 Pro Chronograph with Bluetooth
ETA:I might regret buying the introductory model of anything. But I have it on back order. Yes, it is a doppler unit.
Cool concept, I'll be interested to hear how it performed. I like the smaller size.
I saw that. Looks like a well thought out unit.
Outdoor life article states that Hornady Ballistics Lab has been testing it alongside their equipment. Said results matched. Question I have is whether it can pick up the sub 22 caliber stuff that the lab radar does not.
Oh yeah, that looks perfect.

Yes it can.
I have a Labradar but this looks pretty slick. I think it’s supposed to read up to 5000 fps and it looks like it’s about 1/4 the size.
i would buy this unit if and its a big if to me . i have a Remington 700 with a 24 inch barrel in a 17 Remington ,i also have some 18 grain 17 caliber bullets and out of this rifle with my old Ohler chronograph i believe in the past the the velocity was around 4400 FPS ? i thing i will wait and see if Mule Deer gets one 1st ? it is interesting ?
Been thinking about a Labrador for quit a while.
This is a lot more interesting.
Christmas is coming after all
I was thinking about the Lab Radar also, but this one looks really interesting.
I would like to see:
1). Can add to a previous string/session - as in, I set a rifle aside to let it cool, shoot a different rifle, then come back to the first rifle and want to continue my previous session.
2). Detect shotgun shot strings, arrows, small calibers and rimfires.
Lots of other improvements as shown are welcome, and I like and use Garmin products already, but the listed issues are important to me.
Garmin typically makes quality products.
Reminds me of the AndiScan.

It has settings for air rifles and arrows.
In the video I posted it's used with subsonic from a .22 pistol with no problems.

#1 is a major drawback of my Labradar.

For a problem whose solution is as simple as a firmware update and corresponding change in their app, I’m really not sure why they haven’t made that change already. I emailed them with that suggestion several years ago, as I’m sure have several others by now.
Bought a Labradar 2 months ago. Bummer. Looks like someone is going to get a great deal on my Labradar cause I just ordered the Garmin.
Looks too good to be true, I'll own one soon if not
I won't be trading my LabRadar in any time soon. I love it! It's never missed a 17 caliber bullet from my CZ527 in 17 Hornet which may be due to it being more precisely aimed with a red dot sight mounted on top. Although it's a pain, you can add data from different times together with the Excel spreadsheet data summary. Currently I'm keeping my 22-250 and Swift below 4,000fps, so the velocity limitation hasn't been a problem.
This has finally convinced me to retire my nearly 40 year old Oehler 33.
Yep, my ballistic pendulum is getting a little long in the tooth as well.
On a more serious note, my Model 35 is about 25 years old, never saw the need to replace it but this one from Garmin checks too many boxes. Might wait a while just to see what the longer term reviews are like but for sure this is the first chronograph in the last two decades that has really piqued my interest.
This packaging and technology is getting impressive for that kind of price.
I noticed a lot of Labradar's for sale lately, now I know why
Am I the only one who is reluctant to buy into a first year product, especially electronics ? Hopefully these units are the ticket cause they sure look like they answer lots of problems normally associated with chronographs. Since the early 80’s I’ve been using a Oehler 35 that was used but it’s 100% accurate and repeatable after you get out and set the screens correctly. But I used to go to the SHOT Shows regularly and bought my share of products at the show’s great prices. ‘ New & Improved ‘ gizmos like the PACT Pro chrnograph with built in printer. Three seasons, three trips to Texas for repairs and finally the trash. Printer failed first season, then the rubber faced keys would stick
like a cheap keyboard, two months later it came back and they hit me for my shipping costs to them. Finally the clear plastic keyboard weather cover or membrane started to crack and water got in. PACT wouldn’t help said it got wet well no kidding their weather proof cover failed ! They sent it back telling me it was unrepairable. Then it was digital scale that would only work plugged in but not with 9V batteries soon it wouldn’t calibrate, to the trash as it was “ abused “ said Lyman and finally electronic hearing muffs that started making static noises then one of the rubber ear cups fell off. From now on I’ll let others do the testing with their dollars
Rick
I think Garmin will crush the competition with this.
Garmin has excellent engineers, and their marketing is superb.
