That would be cool if that happens....
Won't change the BCS system though....
It would be interesting if BSU could beat OU and then Florida upset OSU.....

What would they do with an undefeated team....????

Gotta say...I have seen these game over and over....the underdog comes out strong and just can't keep the powerhouse contained....

I would love BSU to win....but if I was placing a bet...it would be on OU.

BSU up 21-10 at half.

I don't know Steve. That Boise QB is puttin a bit of a hurt on em.

I'm not much of a football fan, but I was pretty impressed with the instant replays of the QB on that last touchdown pass. The guy must have trained in ballet.

The Boise boys running with the ball are not so shabby either.
Posted By: Jim in Idaho Re: Boise St.-Oklahoma - 01/02/07
What I really liked was the announcers before the game:
"Can the little dog run with the big dog?"
"Can the little dog run with the big dog?"
"Can the little dog run with the big dog?"

...ad nauseum.

Well, at halftime the little dog is kickin' the big dogs AZZ!!!!

Okay, no mattter how the game turns out, win or lose, no one can deny the Broncos the fact that they CAN play football.

Go Broncos!!
Posted By: Rogue Re: Boise St.-Oklahoma - 01/02/07
Boise is tough. They get no respect nationally, with a tougher schedule they may have placed higher. They are far better than the BSC gives them credit for.

Well, the Broncos just ran an interception back for a touchdown and its 27-10 before the point after. I think the Broncos have definitely made a statement. If they hold on, and Fla. beats OSU, the screaming will go on till next season.

I am very impressed...haven't seen Boise play this year. And while Oklahoma ain't what they were in some past years, they're still Oklahoma and still a very dangerous team.

Boise smells blood in the water. Time to pin their ears back and go for the jugular !!!

Should OU become 1 dimensional (no adrian peterson) not sure they can come back and win strictly by the air.

Right now it looks like Boise wants it more.

I'm wondering what kind of offers the coach will be getting in the mail this winter?

Now, given what the "little dogs" do when playing the "big dogs"; i.e. leave EVERYTHING on the field, and pull out ALL the stops, is it any wonder the BCS was designed to keep these little schools from playing for the title?

Could Boise State have beaten Florida, or OSU? Maybe, but we'll never know.

Thank the BCS for that...

We need a playoff for the title "National Champion". Certainly BSU deserves a chance to show their skill and the winner of the January 8 game needs a chance to prove they are really trhe national champion, otherwise there will be a cloud over the title.
Posted By: 257_Roy Re: Boise St.-Oklahoma - 01/02/07
When OSU wins the title, there will be no doubt who is the champion. OSU will have played the 2nd ranked team in the nation for the 3rd time. This was Boise States first big game. Now if by some miracle of god Florida pulls out a win, Boise would have a legitimate claim at it, being the only unbeaten team. Not trying to take away anything from the Boise fans (are there any???).
Posted By: VAnimrod Re: Boise St.-Oklahoma - 01/02/07
Without a playoff, there's no legitimacy... regardless of how well OSU has done this year... and they are damned good.

I rather see them rip through a playoff system, then stake a claim, than to have to resort to the "well, we beat... and... and..." that comes with the BCS.
I for one thought the B.S.-OK game one of the best bowl games or one of the best games period I've seen in awhile. The commentators were talking about the fact that the big name football shools get the best rated players and that B.S. gets lesser players and then "brings them along".

If that's true it is amply evident at Boise State that blue chip players--so rated in high school--are often missed and picked up by schools like BS or that the rating system is flawed or that many players not so rated in HS can develop that way in college or all of these together.

Anyway, they impressed me.

valid to a point. However, the lack of a playoff does not diminish, or negate the teams that have been chosen as "National Champions". That holds true for this year as well. We work with what we have, not what we wish we had.
I want a play off system for Divison I teams. Since 1964, NCAA Divisons IA, IAA, II and III have had a championship series. Money seems to be the biggest stumbling block to a championship series. Once they work that part out, we will have the playoffs.

Caused quite the hoorah locally.

It is funny, it just does not seem that long ago that it was Boise Jr College, and then BSC.

280Rem,

If you saw the interview with the BSU QB right after the game. That is exactly right. They had been practicing that exact 2 pt conversion. They had used it before in play without the fake pass, by throwing to the right. They also knew that play was on videotape and Ok had seen it. So they had been practicing the fake pass and reversal to the left for use in this game. You noticed how Ok responded to BSU's right and the left was wide open for Johnson to score.

Says a lot for the coaching staff!

I noticed the BSU players were dwarfed by some of the monsters on Ok's side of the line. I do not think Ok got out played, but they sure as he77 got out coached!
Posted By: WGM Re: Boise St.-Oklahoma - 01/03/07
I think all things considered, OSU got outplayed and out-coached ... Boise St. kinda reminds me of the NE Patriots at the beginning of this decade... when there were only a few truly outstanding players on the team, but the entirety of the roster exemplified team play and that's what got them to win 3 superbowls in 4 years ...

There's something to be said for team with a lot of talent that should win ... but there's more to be said about a team that simply finds a way to win, no matter what the odds ...

I've a lot of respect for this Boise St. team and coaching staff ...
Posted By: AggieDog Re: Boise St.-Oklahoma - 01/03/07
I saw ESPN Sports after the game, and Lew Hultz stated that Boise State in that game was the best coached football team "he had ever seen". That goes to show you just how impressive Boise State was. I have followed Boise State enough to know, that they came to play....
Posted By: ExpatFromOK Re: Boise St.-Oklahoma - 01/03/07
Boise St deserved to win that game. They played tough, never lost their cool, made fewer unforced mistakes, and took more risks.

I'm proud of the way OU fought back, but just like in their two previous BCS bowl games (which they lost), they were flat and made too many mistakes. You can't turn the ball over 4 times and expect to beat a good team.

Hats off to the Broncos.

The commentators said several times that OU was shut down up the middle because the Boise defensive line was a brick wall. Peterson had to go outside to gain a single yard.
