We left north Idaho on Monday and landed here in Boerne Texas this afternoon. Ouch. We are only back now as I am mule deer hunting on Monday. I'll plan better next year and go through September before heading south. My wife just swam her laps in the 90 degree pool. She's still out back now back sipping her wine and smoking. Elsewhere blazing?
Tell me about it, been working outdoors at the port of CC setting tile, and the other two jobs I've done in the last few days have been new construction with no power.
No worries, it’s only supposed to be mid nineties next week 🙂
The silver lining is it's going to be under 80 for the KS season opener.
Most years the temps opening week are in the 90s, tickling 100.
Doubt it broke 60 here today. Eat yer hearts out!
Ya southern California. Heat was brutal. Glad to be outta there, what a rat hole

106 here again today
Long range forecast says we’re supposed to be in the 80’s next week with good rain chances.
I’ll believe that schitt when I see it.
I think we’re right at 70 days of 100 degrees or more now. 🤪
Come spend a week in Columbia SC.....
And quit yer bitschn!

Columbia, S.C. and Greenville, N.C. seem like the hottest place on the planet. Luckily I live a ways from both. I was down East today and my truck showed up to 101. Pretty hot for these parts.

Barely broke 50*, eh?
There's something to the heat shock protein upregulation. I'm in mid summer form from running and rucking during 110 real feel and now mid 90's without effort means no sweat. Makes football tailgating all day pleasurable.
Got to 102 today.
Hopefully it drops some to 99 or so.
109* here today. 100*@11am! I am so looking forward to November and December hunting season.
88/60 pretty much all week.
I’ll believe that schitt when I see it.

LOL
52 when I pulled into the drive just now. Tolerable…….
.
108F when I checked this afternoon
94F at 10:50PM central time
Hopefully there will those that reconsider their
moving here and go back to the snow zones

Never mind snowbirds, I read somewhere recently that transplant Californian software types in Austin were becoming disenchanted with our Texas summers and returning from whence they came.
I’ll take another 70 days of 100+ please.
still full on summer time here in FL
It’s been nothing short of beautiful here all summer.
My advice is for you to stay up at the high-line during July August September as it's hot in Texas at this time! Oh.....90F is COOL!!
97 when I got out of the truck yesterday to haul corn back to my deer feeder. And, in SC’s Low Country, it ain’t a “dry heat.”
It was 61* when I got up this morning, in central KY. Downright nice, but it's feeling like rain this afternoon, or maybe even later this morning. Had a cold front come thru, from up north. We've had a pretty nice summer here, compared to TX, for example. I think it only busted 95 once or twice this year.
Yup. I finally finished tying cedar staves in new county road fences. Hot summer. Now I got to start cutting more staves for perimeter and cross fences.
11:09am. 101* already! As Jerry Butler sang”Only The Strong Survive!!”
Come spend a week in Columbia SC.....

I went to basic there in August and September of 81.
I'd rather shove a boiled noodle up a bobcats ass in a phonebooth than have to come back there.
And it was 107 here yesterday and supposed to be 107 again today.
11:00AM 9/8/2023
101°F and not a cloud in the sky.
Forecast Hi today of 110°F.
Think I'll just stay inside under the A/C. I need to practice my guitar anyway!
SW Oklahoma.
Today is opening day of bow season. It's a pretty nice 85* right now, but still too damn hot to deer hunt.
It's been in the upper 90's all week and it finally rained for the first time in a month yesterday. It cooled it down about 10*. By the end of next week, we're supposed to have highs in the 70's. My son is going to see if he can't kill a velvet buck. It's too hot for me.
It's been real swell all summer here at 3500 feet. Probably 8-10 days it was mid-80's, but by bedtime it's mid 60's.

That's funny because that's two of the most miserable places I've been in the summer. Suffocating. The last time I had heat exhaustion was in Pitt county.
Pitt county is the anus of NC. Worse than Little Mogadishu.
Been hotter than 2 rats doing you know what in a wool sock here. Record heat index to 117*high humidity. Welcome to the Mississippi Delta in August & September!

Yes
But I don't think Austin can ever be refurbished
to the decent place it was years ago
I'll be happy if all those transplants go elsewhere
and stop ****ing things up and trying to make
things like "back home "
110F here now at 3:52 central

Yep. I call Austin “Little San Francisco”.
Wouldn’t bother me at all if that Schitthole burned to the ground.
It’s 109 here right now. 😬

I'd give that call to Washington county, Plymouth in particular. Good black bear though.
Second thought Dirty Durham might the bung hole of NC?
Tell that to the damned turkey in the oven...
It was 116F about an hour ago. Haven't looked at the thermometer since.
I'm with Neal, I'll believe the mid-80's with a chance of rain when I see it.
Ed
Ran errands today and saw 104 in the truck. Odd hunting mule deer where I could wear shorts and a tank top.

I've shot a pile of 'em while wearing shorts and t-shirt.
60’s here in West MI. Might have touched 70 today. Expect 40’s tonight. Pretty much perfect fall weather. A little cooler would be even better.
I was wondering when you were headed back south Ed. Let me know if you stumble onto a Stroh base.
Got to 105 today in Houston…been the worst summer I have ever seen here, power went out yesterday evening for a little bit……but I think we can see the light at the end of the tunnel finally…

Interesting. Where would a fella look to get more info? I'm in the profuse sweat zone now.......
The good thing about the excessive heat is it will whittle away cankles. HINT

Hard to imagine such apparel for a mule deer hunt. Out this way, the general deer seasons ordinarily do not start until some time in October and the weather is mostly glorious. Cool/crisp mornings, lots of sun but mild temps through the day, and evenings like the mornings. Low desert a bit warmer, high altitude a good bit cooler.
This AM went out to do some work at 5:30 as sun was breaking through and 62 degrees - nice breeze made it pleasant working all morning until about 11, and by then the cooker was working. Almost 100 when went in for dinner, and the AC felt good. Now about 5:30 and am headed out for more work - will be very nice again.
I was wondering when you were headed back south Ed. Let me know if you stumble onto a Stroh base.
Robb I lost track of that. PM me a reminder.
83 degrees is better than 101 just a few weeks ago . We had several hundred doves in the field every evening until this cool weather pushed them south .

The 11th start.
