Since my last smoke, chew, snuff.
and that ain't an April Fools joke.
I'm horrible with days/ dates/time of day and it was about three days before I realized I quit on 1 April 1989.
Didn't use it as an excuse to have one though.
Congratulations!
My cold turkey day was 23 Oct 1983. Funny how it seemed so difficult at the time but how important it has been in the long haul.
Where there is a will , there is a way!
i'm on 11 years since i quit smoking and alcoholic beverages.
Congratulations to all that quit tobacco. You’re adding lots of quality to the many more days you’ll live.
Just passed 33 years for me.
Gave up Copenhagen for Lent in 1991 (only had cravings for ~ 12 years
)
About 15 months since my last dip of Cope.... I still crave it !
Congratulations, my last smoke was in 1991 sometime.
But really, quitting tobacco is easy. I did it 13 times...
Congrats, wifey stopped about a month ago. I’ve never had one in my mouth or dip either.
Quit smoking Dec 25th 1985. Proudly holding on to my other vices!
Can remember exact date. I used the trail off method. Less and less until one day you don't remember the last one. Been somewhere around 15+ years.
Valsdad: Congratulations!
Enjoy your enhanced health and longevity and spend all the money you saved by avoiding "tobacky" with pride.
Good for you.

Congrats. Think of how much money you’ve saved = guns, ammo. 😊
Congratulations Geno. I threw out my last pack of cigarettes 8 years ago. One of the best decisions I ever made.
Don't know the exact date, but I quit in 1990. Still get the urge occasionally.
Good on you. I just never started. Even when family is in tobacco business.

Got a trip in the big white tube today. Fingers crossed!
I didn't start but have many other vices. Don't drink though. Dad drank enough for the next several generations. RZ.
Congrats!
2 Feb.13 was cold turkey day for me.
I have no idea the day I quit smoking, dipping, drinking, and dope. I do know it was shortly after wrecking my Harley and my wife telling me she was pregnant in 1992. She prayed and preach to me for 7 years to straighten up and see the light. I do know the Braves were playing a night game on TBS, I just finished burning a fat one and decided now would be a good time to get my stuff together. My son was born 7/21/92 and I sure didn't want him to be able to use me as a bad example.

Hope that goes well for you.
I've had too many.
Fortunately, only a few have meant surgery. Hope that's the case for you.

Mark, I understand the cravings thing.
Then it just abated to a sometimes "desire" for one.
I can get behind someone stuck in traffic with my window rolled down and smell the driver of the car in front of me smoking and think "Man, a smoke would be nice right now".
Fortunately, reality strikes and I realize that won't work anymore.

After dinner smoke was the worst craving for me. Out on the porch with a stiff drink.
Everyone else that has quit tobacco/nicotine over the years.
Congrats.
And yeah, saving that money and using it for fun stuff worked wonders the first couple of years. I smoked 2+ packs a day and they were about $2 a pack then. I put half of what I spent away every week, $14 and pretty soon had enough for a nice new fishing reel. That served as a good incentive.

Coffee and a smoke in the AM. I'd already quit drinking so the toddy on the porch was no longer a trigger. But that morning coffee, sheesh

Camping, hunting and fishing morning coffee definitely.
Fishing and coffee in the morning. Brutal times! Also drinking round the campfire.
Congrats. Big accomplishment
Congratulations to all who quit. Fortunately I never started, but I know it is difficult to quit.
Congrats, Geno. Think I got ya by a couple years, and it was the day after Thanksgiving.
Stared dipping to quit smoking, then dipped for 20 years. Quit dipping one day when I ran out and was too stubborn to drive to town and buy a tin, By morning I realized I could quit and did. To this day I can smell a Malboro and close my eyes and taste it, Mmmmm, but I think I would throw up if I put a chew in.
Congrats. Think of how much money you’ve saved = guns, ammo. 😊
The fiscal incentive was what finally got me to quit for good.
Our company health insurance offered a certain percentage off of our premiums for non-smokers. That got me to thinking how much I spent on cigarettes and the annual savings from quitting totaled over $1,000, which was a decent amount in 1991.
But like you say, I just blew that on guns and reloading components.
good on yez. My quit day was nov 3, 2008. I dumped an FZ1 on myself at about 35 mph. After I could sort of kinda breath in my helmet my first thought was "Godddamn I want a smoke!". As far as addiction wake up calls go that was a bull moose roar. Can't say I miss the smoky treats, though the hospital morphine was GOOOODDDDD.
36 years here. There’s still plenty of times where I’d like to sit down and roll one. Harder to replace that relaxation ritual than to beat the addictive part, in my case.
Good on all you quitters. Getting off nicotine is hard. The brain likes nicotine so much it actually grows more nicotine receptors, so it’s a battle.
Best thing you can do to increase your health is to quit.
