I've pulled no punches as to how I felt about McCain during the primaries and really had no use for him in 2000 either.
My vote was for Fred Thompson and wished that he was still there for what's coming on the horizon.

With that said, I have an overwhelming reason to believe that McCain is simply a pawn that was put in place to guarantee the election for Obama.

I'm sure most of you guys have seen this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrnRU3ocIH4

Some, if not most are going to say that this is just not the case, but please explain to me how someone can screw up a campaign as well as McCain has done????

Why did McCain wait so long to "take the gloves off"? Why can't the idiot explain simple economics to the populace? Why does he mention Bill Ayers in the debate, but like he really didn't want to? Why doesn't he set the record straight about who is truly responsible for this failing economy? We all know he asked for regulations, as well as Bush, but its not coming out.

We've been had and he's dawned his blue coat, rather than the red he should have been wearing.

I'm sick and tired of somebody telling me that they're going to be Bi-partisan and "reach across the aisle".......What we need is someone to get those scumbags out of office and take their failed, socialistic policies with them. Reaching across the aisle is another term for submission and giving in to the communist agenda. McCain is great for that and he's dealing the final blow to democracy this time.

Anybody else think he's merely a plant?
Alcoa or Reynolds wrap?
You're kidding, right?

The lever is being pulled for McCain in 2 weeks.

Damn, you ladies are buying into MSM...what a shame.

Va, Florida...now leaning McCain, not including Bradley.

Wise up friends and get to the polling booth. My college kid Absentee voted for McCain today!

That may the single most ridiculous thing I've read here in recent memory.
I am Sir add tax to that 18, so do ya wanna play, or is it maybe you don't want to lose...
Didn't say I wasn't voting for him................Jesus, that should go without saying, but seriously...............

His incompetence in this election is too convenient for me. He's still without a doubt head and shoulders above the great black hope though.

I'm as conservative as they come, but I'm not blind either.......

McCain was despised by Conservatives in the primaries and now you all love him?? There's a reason why he wasn't well liked, but everyone seems to be forgetting that.

Like I said, I'm still voting for him, but I wish to hell we had a better choice, considering who he's running against.

Barak is very competent..............If you're into Stalin, Hitler, and the like.
I watched the debate ,.....years back,....when HW "Tossed" any chance of a win into the weeds,.....for Slick.

It was clearly orchestrated,....and played by sheet music,....so to speak.

A winning attitude,.....there's worse things to hold.

And like Douglas MacArthur said,..." No substitute for victory"

Get out some voters,......drive them to the polls.

Tight race,....let's win it.

GTC

Perot was the problem that year and many a conservative fell for it hook, line and sinker.

I've had my McCain/Palin yard signs tore down 3 times in the last two days, but there's still hope.........

Some jerk with an Obama add the size of a sheet of plywood has had his sign paintballed and shot at......Could be worse I suppose.
Thanks Crossfire....No time for apathy just cuz the AP happens to be the first piece of journalistic HS we see in the morning!

Like I said, I'm gonna vote for him, just like I did for both Bush's, but I'm less than hopeful about how this is coming down. Unfortunately, my vote really won't count for squat. Portland, Eugene, and Salem control the vote and it always goes to the scumbags.

I really can't believe that he had the conservative's best interest in mind with the way he's ran his campaign. He's not stupid by any means, but he has ran perhaps one of the lousiest campaigns I've ever seen.
Time after time he's failed to set the record straight and put Obama in his place.........I can't believe that I'm the only one that can't take what we've all heard on face value.

....Better hang on to those boxes of 'bullets' fellows! If Obama gets in remember he's already, in a very short political career, voted to assess a 500% tax on ammo, as well as banning all semi-auto firearms from civilian ownership, also voted to BAN all carry permits, AND for prosequting any citizen who used a handgun to defend themselves, EVEN IN THIER OWN HOME!...There's more but why go on with his clear anti- second ammendment voting record. Many of his supporters don't seem to care about facts, they just want to believe in HOPE and change. The irony is that if Obama gets in they'll find hope a SLIM DIET, and CHANGE goes in bad directions too!

.....The republican party has created Obama's chance at victory in this election by thier abandonment of the CONSERVATIVE principals that granted them power back in 1994...What became of fiscally responsible, smaller Gov't. republicans? What happened to republicans who cherished and defended America's sovreignty and culture? George Bush has some conservative values, but way back when he ran the first time around I observed, and filled my net posts with warnings, that he was a "Globalist" like his father, not a true conservative! I'm sick of the republican party giving us the lesser of evils. I was about disgusted enough to give my vote to Bob Barr, but when Palin was picked by McCain, I came around to support a republican ticket that at least, and at last, has a true conservative aboard. Really I'm hoping that Palin will mature politicaly, and be our next TRUE conservative president..I sure hope HOPE won't be a slim diet on that score!

....

Why bother?? You're just going to take it away from him by voting for the Marxist this year.
Buy him Birkenstock sandles and a tie-dyed shirt with some polar fleece for the winter. Teach him all the qualites of being a vegan and wearing all cotton.
Explain to him that he doesn't have to work for a living anymore.....There's plenty of rich people to provide for him soon.
Don't worry about good grades, since he'll get pushed through, regardless of how little effort he puts forth. Whats better than that you ask???? Well, it's a free college education of course.

Now, the Ruger is bedded and I'm off to see how the 25-06 I built for my wife is going to shoot.

Every once in a while, the thought has occurred to me.
The Republicans lost the White House when they picked McCain.

Any body who lives near Bob had better go sit with him on November 4 so he doesn't do something serious when Obama wins by a land slide.
Trigger
I think the winning party was decided a year ago, notice I did not say the winning candidate.

The primaries and the election campaign is just window dressing.

Laughin my tail off on that one!!!!
I still hope McCain gets elected as life with Obama looks poor to worse. It is easy to see why he is so popular, he is going to give to us and give to us. Health Care for free, College Educations for free, solve the worlds problem by the US becomming "GLOBAL". People on entitlement programs LOVE the thought of getting more money from the Evil rich and big companies.
As I said, I hope J McCain wins, but in the event he doesn't,, we (well not me and many of you at the Fire)deserve it, I mean really deserve a dose of Socialism.
I can hardly wait to see what happens when he increases the Taxes on the "big" businesses we all either work for or depend upon. I see 4 choices with that. #1 Business will move out of the US where they can operate without the Tax burden (Lord know we have many offshore already), that meaning everybody working for them will be laid off, creating another social problem. #2 The companies will simple do the expected thing and that will be to simply raise their prices for goods and we will STILL be paying their taxes Obama put in place. Big companies answer to the stockholders and are required to make a "profit" #3 Massive layoffs by Companies unable to move offshore to cover the loss of Profit because of Obama taxes. #4 Many business will simply opt to close down for lack of profit for the work they do and the risks taken, again, massive layoffs.
It would take an idiot to think the Government can raise taxes and the Country will be better off.
Obama alludes to the Big Oil making obscene profits, the Gomermint has already held hearings on Big Oil for all the winfall profit they made. I am still waiting to see an investigation into the Federal Government for their obscene winfall profits from taxing oil to the tune of 3 times what the Big Oil companies take in profits.
I just don't care much anymore, I am burning out on this. Just remember when you are unemployed because your company shuts down or moves YOU voted for the Socialist guy.
Like they say, you can't tax yourself into prosperity.
I actually don't care what happens, I am retired and already getting a free (well not free, I have paid into it since the early 60's) peice of the pie through Social Security. hell, I might do better with the Socialist in power.
Ruger, I hear ya. Its all getting tedious.
Ya it is
Ruger let us suggest that stupid be taxed. Then we shall find how how many want to be in that category. NC

Could be the same reason he voted against the Bush Tax Cut.....................but who's counting voting records??
I don't think McCain is throwing the election.

He just never had the guts to do what it took to win.
HS...Quit looking at segments of the voting Bills, my friends. Look at the add-ons...then you'll understand!

Matt...what the hell is a matter with you? In your line of work, I'd suggest you stop crticizing the GOP candidate and start protecting the wonderful business you have... You folks keep listening to the MSM instead of your own brains. Kinda scary!
I will be voting a straight Republican ticket in this election as I have done in every election that I can remember BUT.....let me be perfectly clear;

I AM NOT VOTING FOR JOHN MCCAIN, I'M VOTING AGAINST OBAMA
I'm voting for John McCain.
McCain is not a great orator. He doesn't bring up points like he should. He's more of a "Speak softly and carry a big stick" type of guy.

B.O. is a great orator, yet his stick is an over boiled spaghetti noodle.

Both sides ignore the constitution when it suits them. Hey, if we wanted real change then we should have supported Ron Paul. Of course I suspect that with is attack on the Federal Reserve banking system he wouldnt have lived long.

More like he didn't have the ideas. McCain was never able to articulate any new and compelling ideas that set him apart. Disillusionment with the Bush administration was clear from all the polling in the last 18 months, but McCain, while saying he wasn't Bush, was never able to stake out a unique position. He placed his bet on the experience issue hoping that the war would be the defining issue. If that had been the case, he might have won with his better national security chops.

But, like GHWB, the economy became the defining issue, and McCain is not someone (by his own admission) who has a good grasp economics, and when the perception of most of the public is that the economy is tanking, 'more of the same' is not a good platform to run on.

Americans are fickle creatures, and they like change every once in a while, needed or not.
More like he didn't have the ideas.

I've been reading your posts Tod. You have the ideas to win, huh?
Matt I'm with you too. Don't like him but will be voting for him considering my choices. Something tells me this country needs to hit the bottom before we wake up and see what a S#&%hole it has become, Hopefully there will still be enough of it left to make it the great country it once was.

ML
Hitting the bottom seems to be a theme with some of you. Do any of you intelligent men realize the bottom might be 30 years of a diiferent SC bench?

Do any of you realize the bottom may be 10 years of getting socialistic programs reversed?

Do any of you realize the bottom will be suffered by your children?

Do any of you realize used car salsmen don't make for world leaders?

The MSM has taken a hold of some of you. Get out there...talk to your sphere of influence and do your part to end this potential nightmare!

It's real [bleep] simple.....VOTE. If you do...McCain takes Pennsylvania Avenue!
I already voted for the Milf and the Old Fart!
So have I and my family. 3 votes for McCain. We need it in Virginia.

I've only talked 11 people into pulling the lever for McCain. Pretty lame for my big mouth and money. Virginia is gonna be a tough state because of the Warner/Gilmore ballot.

McCain will win it but do not talk to me come November 5th if I don't have my way!
I've talked 4 brothers into voting for McCain. I'm proud of myself. Les
I think anybody who hangs around KNOWS that... grin...BTW issac have you decided which flavor you're gonna want??? Like I told you a month or so back, THIS IS NOT A BET...You owe nothing when McC gives his concession speech. cry. No I'm not for O'bama & am cringing at the thought of him appointing ANYONE to the SCOTUS...Unless Johnny Mac can pull a rabbit out his azz, Obama will be the next POTUS...Just pray that the locally elected Reps. can keep him in check...Reality is Reality like it or not... frown
MM...McCain is the next President of the US. Quit listening to the AP, my friend.

You guys are sheep when it comes to the Idiot Box!!
Way to go. Out of our family, I'm sure that my wife and both her parents will vote for McCain. I'm sure my parents won't vote for Obama and I think they will probably vote for McCain. My kids aren't old enough to vote yet so we're almost set.
You fight hard for a youngster!

Only said that because of you having young-ins!!
Don't watch polls, and don't vote for who they say will win. It's a fact the pollsters adjust their demographic to get the results they want. That adds to the fervor for B.O. That also, in this case, adds up to a likelihood of riots if B.O. looses. If he losses by a hair then they will call it the Bradley Effect then likely it will lead to black anger, when their polls were B.S. in the first place. So, are riots a possibility, Id say yes. But I have 180 rounds in AR-15 mags ready to go so I'm ready for that.

Do your research yourself. don't listen to the puppets on the boob tube.

Here in Prineville, the black uprising is gonna be bad..............All 4 of them are going to be pissed.......................grin
Some backwards world guy keeps calling McCain an addled old man. Even if that's true I'll take an addled old man ahead of a sharp as a tack Marxist any time.

It's real [bleep] simple.....VOTE. If you do...McCain takes Pennsylvania Avenue!

Make no mistake, I completely understand what is at stake, which is why I am voting for McCain, but I think we've been had just the same.

If McCain didn't do anything else in office, but appoint conservative judges, he'll have done a great job.

I'm a one issue voter..............2nd Amendment support gets my vote. If every gunowner voted for that one issue, Obama wouldn't have even been a blip on the radar screen. There wouldn't be a single Democrat in the house or senate and cities like DC and Chicago wouldn't even dream of gun control in any form.

Maybe one day we can carve it out, so that are children can enjoy that kind of country. I'd rather fight it now, so my kids didn't have to.
"Don't like him but will be voting for him"....That is an oft-repeated sentiment exhibited here. Sad state of affairs when so many are planning to vote for such an undesireable candidate. It has become increasingly more evident as the campaign has worn on that Obama has more to offer America than McCain.

No, McCain is not throwing the election. He is simply incapable of winning it on his own merits. Can he still win? Sure. I said this awhile ago: Racism and religious bigotry may pull him through yet.

Don't like him......Don't vote for him!
Dammit, there is that crappy smell again................
Sure Obama offers more, it's just more of what we don't want. If you have to eat a $hit sandwich do you want a snack size or a poboy?
Most folks up here will be voting for McCain/Palin but not too many are "very happy" with him right now. Too much of the bi-partisan blather and too little of the getting "back on track and under control".

One problem is that many liberal counties in the U.S. have a larger population than our whole state
Yeah I don't give a rat's ass for bipartisan stuff either. Reaching across the aisle is fine as long as it's to get in range to backhand the opposition.
My mother and my brother both life long democrats are voting for McCain this year. I almost fell off the chair when I heard them saying that. Figured I was gonna have to do some mighty fine talking to swing them over to McCain. My Mom's just plain scared of Obama and my brother is smarter than I thought he was.
Which one, Uncle Ron or Wild Willy? Les
Wild Willy....Haven't seen your twin lately!
Bite me ya old bat. wink

Correct. It says just as much about the Democrat candidate as the Republican.
I was stationed at Tinker AFB in 1969, most of the people I met were good conservatives who loved their country, I guess I didn't meet "Popapi" or I might have a different view of Oklahomans.

I believe in finding common ground - but that right there is funny!
Common ground is one thing, giving ground is another.
I suggested that racism and bigotry (however subconscious) could pull the election out fo McCain. Reading your reply, along with comments from the likes of Isaac and Nemesis, I guess I should add another factor....OUTRIGHT STUPIDITY !
Ah hell, theres the smell again

OOH Mr. Berry your old fella grin JusJokin wink ...
I believe that his reason for voting against the Bush tax-cut was because he didn't feel there were enough spending cuts to go alone with it. Hell, you can cut taxes to zero...(which is fine by me) but if you don't cut spending then you're borrowing the money.

Seems like McCain is damned if he does damned if he doesn't. A lot of people on this site have slammed Bush over the past couple of years for helping the Dems increase the size of govt, balloon the deficit, and thereby weakening the dollar.

McCain takes a tough stand and opposes the tax cut plan because it didn't require enough spending cuts and he gets slammed for it.
You're right: Damned, one way or the other. McCain has been in the Fed. govt. forever. Anything that is wrong with the govt....McCain was a part of causing it! Seems silly for him to criticize govt....Hell, he has been the govt. for years!
U got that right.
True... Obama was able to make a much bigger mess in a much shorter time.

Kudos.
the only way I see ol' GPA's bilge is when somebody quotes him.....good to see he's still the same old douchebag peddling the same old tripe.

I can't wait to hear him cry like a little girl the day after the election....and blame it on racism and religious bigotry. It never dawns on the bedwetters that real America will vote against Obama for the same reason they voted against Dukakis, Mondale, Carter, Gore and Kerry......all of whom were, I believe, white guys.
I think you've missed my point but it doesn't really matter. I doubt you would be able to comprehend it anyway. As far as who's spent too many years in the govt...That's exactly how I feel about Biden, Pelosi, Kerry, Kennedy, Reid, Murtha, Clinton, Frank...wow I'm out of breath. Thank God we got rid of Gore and Edwards.

You may have noticed that Obama is staying as far away from his party as possible since the career Dems in congress have shown that they're incapable of taking any responsibility for the failures of their past two-years of leadership.

It's pure gold everytime Barney Frank opens up his mouth during an interview.
Yep....and I'll blame it on stupidity, too. Hey, you will be voting for him, right?
I'll tell you all this much, if McCain wins, I'll never in my life believe another poll!

I still haven't got over the beginning of last ice age back in 1976.
