I went shopping for a new car and this is one I am looking at in earnest. I love my truck, but sometimes I would like a car to drive. Had one up until last year when I gave it to my nephew, and in truth I have missed it. Before buying it though I would appreciate any comments or suggestions you folks might have.
I sold my business a few months back, and I really don't mind paying a little extra for a car, but in truth I want one I am going to keep for a while, no intention of getting a new one for several years after this purchase, as my truck is 2007 and will need to replace that in a few years I am sure. I don't want to waste my money, and in truth I am not that knowledgable about cars/trucks specifics.
Was actually thinking about waiting till I return to the states to buy one, maybe in November when a friend of mine could help me, but I am not even sure he might be agreable. Anyways, thanks in advance.
2010 Lincoln MKS
Lots of good cars, but keep American cars in your thoughts...please.
Long time Ford truck guy, myself, but the Lincoln is probably a good deal. You can get it with a 355 hp engine and all wheel drive, which would be nice if you take it to the Great White North.
For a few thousand less you can get a Taurus SHO with the same engine and all wheel drive hardware.
You could get one of these, too...:

That is a nice car Lynn. Buying new you should be pretty good to go reliability wise.
Don't buy new... Let someone else absorb that loss...

That there is good advice.

Honda Accord.

Don't overlook the Cadillac CTS.
IMO the best American sedan available right now.
If you can swing a test drive in a CTS-V you'll be in for a real treat.
my uncle who just passed had a cts-v and a zo6
Chessmaster if your shopping in that price range. I am thinking you need no help making that decision.

I guess I should explain that this is my one and only "I busted my ass all this time, I sold the business and the Government took a hunk that would choke a goat before I got it, and I would like to be able to have just one extravagant thing to enjoy".
I don't do furs, I don't do jewellery, I don't do big vactions all the time, I rarely buy anything for myself, and if I was involved with someone I would probably buy a vehicule for them before me, but I am not, and I guess I just figure I deserve something after all this time.
Anyways, thank you for the comments.
I guess I just figure I deserve something after all this time.
If that's the case,I'd buy one of these...
Then get what your heart desires.
If you want to be pragmatic pick a few few cars and check the resale value / reliability of them and pick one.
Win / Win

Now that's a car !
Speaking of Canadian taxes. Any ideal on what percent you would pay on a home sale of around $800,000. Previous owner owned for twenty plus years and had around $200,000 in it. Curios as x-sister inlaw is selling one. GW

Sorry to hear about your uncle but I have to ask.
Were you in the will?

I guess that would be the best thing to do, and maybe I should take someone with me who could guide me better in the process.

The wife got her dream car back in June.
Tell me y'all got the V8 in that badass car... Not the 6...
The wife got her dream car back in June.
My, my, my, that is one pretty car, nice choice....

She even lets me drive it on weekends
The two doors are fun to look at, and drive, but you'll be hatin' life when you need to haul folks, groceries, or hobby/craft "stuff". This from a 'ro admirer.
The Lincoln is certainly a luxury treat, hard to find any fault, 'cept it's a f-f-f-f-f-ord >grin<.
I do like the advice offered 'bout the Caddy CTS, and buying gently used (regardless of make), unless the money just isn't a difference maker - then plant your hiney on new seat.
The Hondas, while not a head-turner, are a long running, practicle vehicle - that retain resale better than average.
It boils down to your preference, you earned it - now enjoy it.
Fog lights, alloy wheels, but the RS grille, must be a RSII?
Gauge pod on the console?
Momma like Camaro's and still picked me, shows she has excellent taste.
I like your style.
We drove no less than 6 of these in the last few months when my wife was looking for a car. Beautiful car, great ride, decent power, good warranty.
I just noticed the Lincoln is a 2010, that being a model year old now, should be discounted. Year-old, new cars are a smart way to buy.
Just for consideration, I'd find out who's offering cash or finance reductions as well. If there aren't any attractive purchase incentives right now, it may be wise to wait a bit - 'cause those programs are sure to be offered in the future.
Les!
A Chrysler?
Lions, Chrysler, let me guess - Mossberg rifles.
my choice of a "reward" car with also having a truck on hand would be a classic car.
These have always caught my eye...
1964 Studebaker Avanti - Original

Bite me, I wouldn't buy a moss berg with Masers money.
I like Chryslers, respect them more than Chevy, least they just told Obama to piss off after they got their money, they didn't go on TV and say they paid back their government loan.
I'll give their integrity - this time.
I'm old enough to remember two previous Chrysler exclusive bailouts though. Times were different then, and the country actually applauded those efforts.
From a normally very sharp guy - I guess we all have imperfections.
While I don't have any authority, I'd suggest two Hail Mary's, and some time with the rosary.

ps: replace the black accent with gold, you'd have somethin'.
I have had many cars over the decades. These include some nice big cars like the Town Car, Boss 429, a new Porsche, many Corvettes......
I like some power if you know what I mean! A car that I like today is the Chrysler 300C with the AWD option. Its easy to get in and out of and handles so well.
5.7-liter HEMI V8 MDS dual Variable Valve Timing engine packs 360 horsepower at 5,800 rpm and 390 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpm.
You gunna buy that Avanti?
On a different day I would be all over it.
Sure is purdy...
i wouldn't mind a 53 Studebaker but i'd have to drop a 426 hemi in it
Wait until the end of the year, dealers will be even more desperate than they are now.
And put me down for an Audi S5.
Fog lights, alloy wheels, but the RS grille, must be a RSII?
Gauge pod on the console?
Yep and Yep
Bart, it is the V6. The V8 was gonna run about 8000 more with these options. At 305 horses I am satisfied.
The RSII with pods would be my choice as well - hard(er) to find.
The insurance on the SS is more than I'd like as well. I came within an eyelash of buying the RSII, but my practical side over rode my hot rod side.
I sure can't kick on the price of 'em, and it is a rear wheel drive car, which I like.
I got a 1000 off of sticker cause I financed through my credit union. Other than that they weren't budging on the price. When we bought back in June they were selling them as fast as they came in.
Thinkin she'd look good behind the wheel of a Cady!!!
