Turns out some of the 10 doctors doing the condensing
are on the GMOs paycheck. talk about crooked hypocrites

http://money.cnn.com/2015/04/21/media/dr-mehmet-oz-accusations/
The media folks are often no more educated on a specific subject than a 4th grader that just spent 10 minutes on Whatever-pedia. Unfortunately, blind followers think of them as well educated specialists. Oprah can affect a 10% market swing with an off the cuff remark. Their level of influence is absolutely scarey.
They aren't hypocrites for pointing out his lies
The courts took on the issue in an attempt to simply have food labeled "Contains GMO".
It was defeated and the prime reason the corporations gave was that the cost to relabel would be passed to the consumer...
Really?
They change labels every GD week. Look at cereal box's for Christ sake.
Total BS.
Stay off the aisles and you'll stay heathy.

What would it accomplish to label everything "Contains GMO's"?
All the ingredients are already on the labels

If people were smart enough to learn the facts, they would know if the ingredients are GMO or not
if it said "contains GMO's" fewer would buy it thus hurting their profits. I am for labeling. Something will happen to Oz to shut him up more than likely.
The whole issue is frankly, moronic.

From what I've seen, most of the anti-GMO crowd really has no idea what they are.

Have 'em hit ya twice, for good measure.

Got news for you all. If you eat anything with corn or soybeans in it, you been eating GMO material to a certain extent. Doesn't count other fruits/vegetables, that can be classified as "herbicide resistant" to one chemical or another.

Also includes rootworm, cornborer, cyst nematode resistant.... and the list goes on.

If everybody is concerned about GMOs you will never eat anything that has corn products in it. GMOs are nothing more than a way to make a plant grow healthier and produce more. It helps reduce the need for chemicals which to me is alot safer and better for you. The people who are against GMOs don't really understand what they are against.
Hey Maddog, I was not looking over your shoulder when I was typing this.
That's ok. I've been in the seed sales industry for close to 40 yrs. Started in Feb. 1974. I've seen it all. Roundup ready soybeans hit the market back in circa 1994. 96%+ of all the corn and beans produced in the US are GMO. Not to mention that the pork, beef, chickens and most other meats have been fed GMO feedstuffs for years. It will continue for a LONG time. Lest you think will game is free from this, deer, squirrels rabbits, birds etc. also eat leftover grain from the fields.

Been in the growing dirt busniess most of my life. Last year in Pendelton Or. they found some GMO winter wheat that was not suppose to be there. Monsanto had some test plots in the area but said it was not theirs. Cost alot of money because some of the exporters got gun shy about wheat from that area.

Dr. OZ is a quack.
GMO corn means that farmers can eliminate Atrazine in their corn. Atrazine has shown up in drinking water all over the country and it lasts a long time. Roundup might not be perfect but it's a lot better than the alternatives.
He's a dip chit for sure but millions of ignorant women suck up his spiel like there's no tomorrow.

Oprah is another fuucking idiot...
He's oprah rich, though!
He and Dr. Phil can thank Oprah for their "success".

And, Oz is rolled out as a rock star, all prettied up to look cool and attractive to his large audience of women. It's promo/marketing at it's best.

Oz criticizes the panel of doctors who criticize him, saying they have connections with GMO companies. That's the pot calling the kettle black, for sure.

The "Wizard of Oz" and this Oz, have a lot in common. Illusions, both. Marketing and money.

Oz has stepped over the line with his snake oil weight loss stuff, no doubt. Columbia University needs to be very careful of who they endorse as a faculty member, they have their standing as a medical school to protect. Oz has to be an embarrassment to them.

My neighbor is originally from a large Iowa farm family. I asked him about GMOs. He brought up 2 points:
1. The pesticide residue in the food chain is greatly reduced.
2. His family and friends are not suffering from chemical related illnesses and deaths at nearly the rate that they were 30 years ago.

He does point out that we can't be sure if GMOs have long term consequences, but he said his family has no desire to going back to the good old days of sloshing massive amounts of chemicals.
The controversy over the GMO sure have boosted the organic market. I hear adds about the organic aisle in the grocery stores and every stor I go into has an organic section.
Has helped the farm markets too as they claim no GMO food and people are buying into this latest hysteria.
Three recently deceased doctors applied
for admission to Heaven. The admitting
angel asked them how they qualified.

"I've delivered ten thousand babies and
took care of many of them through their
teens," the first doctor said. "Several
later contributed much to society."

"Come on in and make yourself at Home,"
the angel said.

"I've transplanted over a thousand vital
organs," the second doctor said, "thereby
extending the lives of many who later
contributed much to society."

"Come on in and make yourself at Home,"
the angel said.

"I've established five HMOs," the third
doctor said, "and I'm the CEO of three."

"Come on in," the angel said,
"for three days."
There is a large organic farm east of here. He's had to remove part of his acres from organic because of elk. They feed on his fields and their droppings leave weed seeds which are impossible to hoe out. He has to spray them out and it takes several years after that to recertify the land as organic. He could lose 5 years of organic sales because of it. The only alternative is to leave the land fallow for several years and keep plowing down the weeds. That's even more expensive.

Meanwhile, he's been working with the IDFG to keep the elk out.
I would worry much more about the reduction in nutrient density in modern highly improved produce varieties than GMO's. By a long shot.

What about animal control when they're damaging crops.

These elk have proved pretty expensive for that farmer. He needs to fill his freezers with elk meat, sorta an offset if you will... grin

Here's a good read. Covers GMO, detoxing, vaccines, etc.

These are part of a herd that moved up from NV years ago and have been expanding ever since. There are VERY limited tags so far. He might have got a free landowner tag but that's only 1 elk. I wonder if he's a vegan.
I guess that farmer needs to look at cost of fencing them out vs. loss of organic crop revenue.

I don't know how much land he farms, how high a fence it would take and the cost involved.

DF
so, it's obvious that the elk prefer the organic foods. Do they know something about GMO that we don't?

Now, that a different perspective... grin

8 out of 10 elk surveyed prefer organic foods.

Don't be a Mannlicker

From his wiki page:

Oz has been a professor at the Department of Surgery at Columbia University since 2001.[13] He directs the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.[14] His research interests include heart replacement surgery, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, and health care policy.

In 2009, Oz joined Jeffrey T. Arnold as co-founder of Sharecare, Inc.,[15] providing an interactive question and answer platform that allows industry experts to answer health-related questions.

You're Welcome
I'm against GMO and I assure you, I know what I'm talking about.
Aan I don't eat corn, or grains for that matter.
My spouse teaches nutrition at a doctoral level.
I am sure that some of you fat ass, high cholesterol Rx eating grass munchers know better though.
Yawn.

Appears that you just supplied us the definition of moronic.
I don't know about Dr. Oz, but not all GMO is wholesome.

GMO grain has been linked to birth defects.
