Yep, one might say I like Dr Stanley's music:

A little bit more of America gone. Rest in Peace.

Boy I'll say. Uniquely American and sad to hear of this.

Who is Ralph?

He was damn good!

I got the honor of meeting and talking to Ralph and his wife for about 20 minutes one time before a show here in Knoxville. I even got him to sign a Banjo head for me.
His wife Jimmi was abit younger than him. She put me in the mind of Peg Bundy from married with children! <g>

The loss of a Great musician imo,... his political side, not so much.

RIP Ralph

Assuming a serious query, smile he was mostly known in bluegrass music circles. Within bluegrass, he was equivalent to what Johnny Cash was in country music circles.

I did not know about his political side.

rost,

I still don't, and probably won't look it up either.

Lot's of folks didn't (don't) agree with Woodie Guthrie's or Pete Seeger's political sides. Doesn't diminish the importance of their music.

Hope all is well with you there in TX,

Geno

In hind site, it's painfully obvious that Ralphs good intentions were sorely misguided.
Ralphs grandson, Nathan Stanley, endorsed the Republican candidate.

Ralph came from hardscrabble coal country so it's not a surprise. Since the war on coal the miners have shifted sides.
