Looking for some opinions on the car and whether you think you made a good purchase. Thanks.

Don't own one but have seen a couple of good reviews on the new model. Here's Road & Track's First Drive and Car & Driver's review. Both seem pretty positive.

May not be an E39 M5, but its getting pretty interesting.
I drove one today. I was impressed with the room on the inside.
I have one but I only drive it when I go to the parts of town I don't care to take either of the Lamborghinis.
I had one for a couple of days as they did maintenance on my Boxster and was more than impressed. A roomy vehicle that ran like a sport. If I needed a four person sports car the Panamera would be it.
Badger should be able to give you some good advice on that car.
they are very expensive. I believe they start around $120K. I just won't spend that much on transportation.
I too had one while they were working on my 911. I loved the ride and the power but hate the looks.

Beautiful car.... from the inside.
I had one as a loaner for two days while having my Cayenne Turbo S serviced.

I thought it was a great car! Great performance, good ergos, plenty of room, and I like the looks of them too.

If money were no object, I'd have one in my garage.

As it is, my next Porsche will be a 911.

My youngest son has one and I have driven it quite a bit. I find it very impressive and lots of fun to drive. It has a real back seat that really surprised me with its' room and comfort. He has had many Porsches and this one is my favorite and he has found it to be trouble free.

I saw a Turbo PAN when they first came out...thought it an abortion of a 911.

It has grown on me a lot though. I fear that if I rode in one, I'd be wanting one real bad.
" . . .he has found it to be trouble free."

That's what I am looking for! lol
Stay away from the hybrids and you'll be fine. Oh, and if you're looking at the Turbo, go ahead and start saving now for brake replacement parts. They're aren't cheap.
I am looking at the Turbo. Are you talking about ceramic or steel brakes? I was looking at the price of the ceramic and they are astronomical as well. Full disclosure, I'm looking at low mileage 2010 models to try and get down to my price range.

Steel brakes on the Turbo will set you back around $3k front and rear if using genuine Porsche parts (Highly recommended if you want like performance, and no noise and vibration). Ceramics are on another level. Not certain on Panamera ceramic brake prices, but on the 997 Turbo's, you'll spend more than $20k.
Accurate riles are more important to me than cars!

How in the hell can you guys look at that and see an ugly car?

It doesn't have to be an "either/or" sharpie . . . grin
If you are considering new, perhaps take a look at:

http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-sho...8-porsche-panamera-sport-turismo-geneva/

Quicker and faster than a 911 (no mean feat as the Panny is a weighty car) and to my eyes, drop dead gorgeous. I'd go with Agate grey or Jet black metallic w/black leather interior and deviated stitching in silver or white. Build your own here:

http://www.porsche.com/usa/models/p...mera-turbo-sport-turismo/#modelselection

I think he most recent Panamera is better looking than the past version. Especially the rear end of the vehicle is more flowing. Much like when Porsche changed the Boxster/Cayman from the previous 987 styling to the recent 981 and newest 718 styling. It just looks right. Properly powered quick, pointy sharp handling, fast and comfy.

Also, Audi is strongly considering to bring the RS-6 Avant as per recent press info. Love that ride a lot. We have quite literally been BEGGING Audi to bring the RS-6 Avant here for like 3 years now. Said to Audi US "who do we make the damn check out to"? We are on Audi # 16 as of now. That love affair started in 1989. The Panny turbo Sport Turismo may get the nod though now.

I'd take either over the 991.1 C4S I had and the 981 BS I currently have as I LOVE wagons though I do LOVE the Boxstar S here in SW Fl. It's a perfect beach car/daily driver with an impressive amount of storage for such a small ride.

Regarding the $$ issue, my thought is that you can afford it (as it is a heavily depreciating asset as virtually cars are) and like it, buy it. Life is too short for regrets... Just my $0.02.

Fine rides are a sort of petrol narcotized want. Once bitten by the bug, it is, thankfully, it is an incurable disease.

I'm negotiating a deal now. Will post picks if I get it.
It helps if one can do their maintenance as I do. A dealer oil change and fuel injector cleaning, a bottle of chitt I buy off net, runs $450. A twenty minute job. Plugs, air and cabin filter is $1000. A two hour job... I do my own as, in most regards, is no different than doing the same on my 73 Mach 1.
Ed I'm sure there are some computer hook ups in there somewhere. grin

The top picture seems to be a 2016/2017 Panamera which is not the same body geometry as 2010.
LED headlights are also different.

I thought the earlier models looked good in magazines till I saw them side-view on the streets.
The region of the rear pillar & hatch geometry just looks odd in the flesh.

Ed, have fun with the air filters on a Panamera then smile.

Front bumper skin has to come off to replace them.
I have a junkie old jeep.

WOW they sure know how to complicate something don't they?

So take off the front bumpers as required or pay someone dearly to do it. The owner
must make a choice that's all. It's more working getting access to my plugs than performing the actual swap. Same for the air filter.

A good friend has one...scary fast...he usually has about three HP rides in the stable at any given time....seldom keeps one more than a year...must like this, he's had it almost three years. That says a lot.
So...?

Did you buy one?!?
Waiting for them to send me the offer sheet.
Dang, they sold that car right out from underneath me last night. Not to worry, I have two more located. I will get one of them for sure.
I will make my point once more. They are great cars but be prepared to pay an azzload to maintain (routine) it unless you can do it yourself. The latter not being rocket science. YouTube is your friend. The latest Boxster S is killing me.
Great cars but....

I've owned 4 and do not think I would ever own another. The overall maintenance darn near exceeded the payments. My first was the most expensive. Seemed like it costs me $500 just to write my name on the service ticket.

In the shop the car was always on a clock. Heat up and down and up again to take readings always cost a fortune because the clock determined the billing. Forget the parts.

Had both a Jag and Mercedes that never came close to Porsche maintenance costs.

While I will keep the antique Benz (560SEL) I have now I am currently in the market for both a new SUV/truck and car. I am seriously leaning back towards GM on the SUV (have one now and very trouble free) BUT very unsure on the car. I just don't know.

But for sure it will not be a Porsche. Unless, it's another '69 911S or 914 2.0. And that would only be for weekend kicks and speed. grin Or a model that the sales rep will guarantee is not as costly as older models.

thanks ed and byc for your advice.
OO in all honestly mine were older but aside from 2 antiques always purchased new. Loved the car but again the maintenance was killer. AND they were not Panamera's. Sorry for not mentioning that.

However, like all other modern day cars that may have changed. I just don't know. If so, then I would possibly consider another because they are definitely fun to drive and engineered like none other.

Before I did buy I would hit the Porsche forums......In fact that is true for any ride.

I'd check with badger re: killer maintenence costs, but in all the reviews I've seen, the Toureg was preferred over the Porsche Cayenne. Go figure, right?
Yup! badger would know a whole lot more than me for sure......

I may have simply chosen bad models. I know for sure one was. mad
One of the finest models Volks Wagon has put out. wink
Nice looking auto, but I quit buying autos not made in the USA! Just won't give money to furriners!
I have a Touareg V8. To this point in life, it is the best car I have ever owned.

My wife's other car is a 2016 Audi Q5 3.0 T with a supercharged six and an eight speed paddle shift transmission and it is about as much fun as her Porsche. Technology, year on year, in phenomenal without question. With the first oil change (included) I bought a maintenance plan through 65 K miles for $900. Done.

As noted, Porsche's are another matter. Time and materials on her Boxster for an oil change (annual or every 10 K miles) by me is 20 minutes (primarily awaiting the oil to drain) and $50 for filter (Amazon) and oil (Mobil One at Walmart). I change oil every two years as the miles are low. A lot of folks are frightened to do maintenance on the European import when, in fact, it ain't all that hard. An oil change on her Boxster is more work than the same on my Tundra...

Ed, check out this thread from 6speedonline . . . very cool.

Spark Plug & coils DIY Panamera
Well, after several false starts I finally found my car and put a down payment on it to hold it, till I fly in next weekend to pick it up. This shopping on line, nationwide, is quite the experience. Had a 2010 Panamera Turbo located in Florida and dallied around too long before deciding to buy, and the car was sold right out from under my nose when I called back to the dealership to put a down payment on it to hold it til I could fly in and drive it home.

The next car I found was just outside Atlanta, a red 2010 4S that I "thought" was a turbo. I immediately put a $1000 down payment on it, until I discovered my mistake the next day and called to cancel the sale. Cost me $350 to get out of the deal.

The next one I found was a 2011 turbo in Huntsville AL. I drove over from a project I was visiting in Georgia to look at it and talk to the owner. I had called him a few days earlier, but he was a foreigner (Muslim sounding) who did not speak good English, but he swore his name was "John Berry." The advertised price and photos on the web site was so good, I decided to check it out personally. Well when I drove into the dealership and walked inside the office, there was a 30-something American man sitting at the desk and I asked if John Berry was there. He said no, but that he was at lunch and would be back shortly. I then asked him if they still had the Porsche Panamera Turbo for sale (because I had not seen it on their lot.) He told me they had never had a Panamera. I told him I spoke to John Berry the past weekend about the car. He said that John Berry was his dad, and he knew for a fact they had never had a Panamera on the lot. I started laughing and explained how someone had hacked their website and had a photo of the car with a "cash only" offer. He looked it up, and sure enough there it was. He told me this explained why people kept calling about a Lexus that they did not have on the lot, yet there was a photo of the car on their web site.

I finally found this car, a 2012 turbo with 18,000 miles. MSRP is $158,000, so It is well optioned and looks to be in perfect shape. I called the dealer the next day and made an offer. He told me two people had already come in that morning from out of town to look at and drive the car, and one decided to buy a 4S for less money. I put down my deposit and will fly in to drive it home next Saturday.

(If) when we pick it up I'll post another pic or two.

Not to hijack but this Audi was here in town for the Corsa Rally last weekend. Thought it looked pretty cool. It wasn't stock, it sounded pretty strong.
